Hello, I'm Craig in Punta Gorda, FL. Bought a 2003 SLK320 for my wife (the redhead) for her birthday. She's the third owner and it had just under 50K at the time. No Mercedes dealership within 60 miles of here, so I've been appointed chief mechanic. Here's what I've done so far:
-Fixed the K40 relay module (joint broke when my wife was going to work)
-Repaired the leaking hydraulic cylinder (of course the interior one)
-Failed at recovering the ruined headliner and purchased a new one. The rigid backing on the old one was soaked and softened around the edges.
Currently, I'm replacing the original stereo with a Kenwood KDC-X998 and integrating SiriusXM. The head and cd player worked fine, but the fiber optics failed.
Next, I'll be resealing the recirculating cover which now provides us with a wonderful burnt oil aroma while stopped at intersections.
Can't forget to eliminate the rattles from the rear deck.
Then, I get to choose between fixing the intermittent power seat issue or refinishing the painted interior trim.
I hope to have this list completed before her next birthday.
