Hello all, this is a great community, and this is my first post. I just got a 2009 SLK55 amg and I am looking to make some exhaust mods. I just bought the magnaflow xpipe but I figure since im getting work done I might as well address the cats. Most of the shops wont touch the second cats that I have talked to, but could I perhaps convince them if I get some high flow cats secondary? If so, any recommendation on which type? I dont want to spend an arm and a leg.

Thanks for your help!

I only have high-flow kleemann's on mine, and have never had a problem, but have been told that you can't pass Kali emission with 'em. No personal experience there...

Thanks jbanks and UK-C200 for the information. I was looking at only doing the secondary cats (for now), and the kleeman ones are a bit pricey considering I think you can get them cheaper as long as they have the metal substrate right? The secondaries use Ceramic?

also jbanks15, where can i get the thread information on most of those mods? i look all over the place google etc and theres lots of threads. which of those mods are the easier/cheapest? i want to start small. I already got the shift knob sticker from formymercedes.com and i got the kit to fix scratches on the nav screen thanks to you guys.

i still have no clue about the hi-flow cats, i want some easy hp gains and i havent been able to find anybody saying that removing the resonator and putting an xpipe in its place will generate any power.

I don't have an AMG, but I doubt that there are solutions out there that don't require at least one each arm & leg to acquire. Performance parts for Mercedes-Benz are usually spendy, and that goes double for AMG models. It's always been that way, in part because the performance aftermarket for M-B cars has typically been small (in numbers of cars significantly modified). Thus, the R&D cost for developing speed parts has to be amortized over far fewer projected sales than would be considered normal for a Corvette, Mustang, or WRX STi to cite but three examples.

So the AMG owners here may well come back with a solution, but it almost certainly won't be cheap.
