Hey all,

My name is Juliet and I recently bought a 1999 SLK (per the title). I love her to death, but I'm still sorting out some of the quirks of a 15yr old vehicle (thinking I need to have a look at the k40 because she wouldn't start yesterday while it was hot out).

I have my eye on some mods....but new pulley is probably as crazy as I'll get. Happy to see how active things are here, even regarding the R170. Looking forward to getting to know everybody and participating.

Marilyn has 84k on the clock, and I'd like to see her go well past 300k. Hopefully this forum will be a part of that journey.

Welcome, Juliet and Marilyn, from Greg (Beekster) and Sunhilde in Hillsboro, Oregon. Always glad to see another member show up here with a car equipped with God's Own Transmission, a manual. Having owned Mercedes-Benz cars for many years, I'm sure that if you sort out Marilyn's little niggles you'll easily see 300k or much more. These cars are very durable, and built to be maintained. Some repairs are inexpensive and others are not. But once done, the car is good as new and will stay that way for many thousands more miles. Enjoy your new toy!

Welcome to SLKWorld.com: The #1 Mercedes-Benz SLK Forum from Valrico, Florida!

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
In addition, if you haven’t, please post your question in the appropriate discussion forum for a quicker response and only once. Be patient and a knowledgeable member will address your question.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
Post your vin in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a datacard (options on your car) free.

Please update your location in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information if you haven’t already.
‘Usercp’ at the top left of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’. Info in your ‘garage’ does not update your ‘profile.
Done and done! Thanks!

Welcome from NoCal, formerly SoCal. We had a 230 several years ago and loved it but couldn't pass recently on 20k miles SLK32. Have fun!

Hi Juliet:
Welcome from Sunny Clearwater, Florida {a bit too sunny in July}.. My SLK is also a Yellow 1999 Model. Love the color - and Yellow seems to be back in Style now as I'm seeing it on lots of new model cars.

The SLK 230's are amazingly good Sports/GT's and offer a lot of car today, for very few dollars. Hope you enjoy yours for many years to come.

Hi Juliet, a warm welcome from Southern Arizona. Wow, I see you are from the Inland Empire. I haven't heard that term in years. I graduated from San Dimas H.S. near Pomona a fair number of years ago. Frank G. Bonneli Regional County Park was called Puddingstone Reservoir back in my day. lol Good to have you on board. Enjoy the people, the forum, and top down cruisin'.
