Bought a 2009 SLK 300 three months ago. So far we are loving it. Was washing it this morning and discovered that I need front mud flaps. I will check with local dealer to see what they have. Meantime I am trying to remove the gunk (tire bits or road tar or whatever it is) and the only thing that seems to work is scraping with my fingernail. Any ideas on shortcut that will actually remove this stuff without ruining the paint?

Thanks everyone for the welcome

Thank you to everyone for the welcome. Also thank you to JBanks for the Goo Gone tip. I bought some at my local grocery store and it worked fantastic. I think I will still look into mud flaps at least for the front tires. Does anyone know if the ones I need for SLK are specific to SLK or are all MB mud flaps the same? Thanks again.

In my opinion, it is much better to not get mud flaps for the front. look how nice the rear pig ears look! Just don't drive in the rain or in the mud :D
