Hey Everyone,

Benny here from the Atlanta suburb of Gwinnett County.

Just today I thought an MB SLK could fit the bill for a combination DD and weekend car.

Not looking for new, but a used 2012 and up SLK. So far I know there's the turbo 4, the 6 and the 8. I'm interested in the 4 or the 6 cyl. models but want to know more about the 4's reliability being a turbo. I've read good things said about the 6.

Anyhow, I'll continue reading threads to learn more about the car and will likely post a question or two in the process. Along the way, I'm sure I'll get to know some of you good folks on the forum.

Cheers

Benny

Welcome to SLKWorld.com: The #1 Mercedes-Benz SLK Forum from Valrico, Florida!

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
Post your vin in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a free datacard (options on your car). You must update your profile with vehicle info and your location and post an introduction first.

Hi Benny, and welcome from the UK Midlands! :)

As Jeff has already mentioned above, it would be great if you could add your location and car details into your forum profile, please (instructions included in Jeff's post above). Thanks! :tu:

Thanks for the great welcomes!

As Jeff pointed out, I shouldn't forget the previous gen with the F1 nose like a number of you have.

Have always liked that model. Maybe I need to open my options to that one!

Thanks again - I'm sure we'll be bumping into each other in threads to come.

Hi Folks,

Just started searching AutoTrader and found some nice R171s. I think it's got purity of line and concept. The R172s are also good - on the street they can be mistaken for the SLs (which I've done) but don't have quite the uniqueness of the R171. Did any other MB have the F1 nose? Don't recall seeing one yet.

The styling and generations aside, the gray on red comes across as special and expressive. Wonder if the combo will age well.

Anyhow, I'm in the learning stage yet and a purchase is probably 3 months away. Good to learn "all things MB."
