People love to say "Black Series." It sounds like Mercedes has a secret division where people from the future tune cars in ways regular German engineers can't. There haven't been that many such exotic cars in recent years, and we don't know if this C63 AMG prototype will "join the Night's Watch". But we can hope, can't we?

The other day, our friend Walko Art discovered this mystery prototype undergoing testing in Stuttgart. It really has us scratching our heads.

Most of the body belongs to the C63 AMG S Estate, including the exhaust system. However, the fenders are even wider than normal. Could this be a sign that they are testing wider tracks for the W213 E-Class Estate?

We don't think so because the wheelbase of the C-Class is way too short for that. Instead, we think this has something to do with the Black Series and the upcoming C63 AMG Coupe that will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

You see, the tracks on the C63 Coupe are likely wider, just like the 4 Series has extra girth compared to the 3er. Maybe they have a new suspension setup under there that will make this the fastest estate in the world.

The previous generation of the C-Class estate also had a crazy version. We are talking about the Edition 507 Wagon. Essentially, that was like a family car with the M156 engine from the SLS "supercar". It used parts like forged pistons and crankshafts, larger wheels and trick suspension.

I think that the idea of a fast wagon wouldn't exist without AMG. Back in the 1980s, a car called "THE HAMMER" was on the bedroom wall of every child in the world. Essentially, that was an E-Class with a 6-liter V8 from the S-Class.

Hammers were supposedly faster than a Ferrari Testarossa. So will the new C63 Black Series wagon be able to do the same with the 488 GTB? Surely not, but the California and the 458 are within reach.
