Well my SLK350 isn't here yet, but I got the VIN number today from my Sales Advisor. He said the car is at status B5 which means Production Complete (two weeks early)!

I am relieved to report that the VIN does NOT end in 666!! Now, I'm not superstitious, but I worry about VINs because in 1999 I bought a new car from a reputable Japanese manufacTurer with a VIN ending in 666. This car was a HUGE lemon and was eventually repurchased by the manufacturer. The settlement agreement does not allow me to reveal the manufacturer's name. But I can say that before it was declared a lemon, some of the parts replaced under warranty within the first two years were: water pump, moonroof, headlight assemblies, stereo, alternator, transmission, clutch, motor mounts, etc. I forget the rest of the problems.

So the moral of the story is, stay away from cars with too many 6s in their VIN ;)
