Hello members. Firstly I'd like to introduce myself to everyone. I'm Aiden Dickinson, a 19 year old lucky enough to be the proud owner of a 2007 slk 200K. As much fun as it is, like nearly everyone thats going to click on this mod, Im after making my car look great, sound awesome and be a hell of a lot more powerful. I have a little list of mods of which are ordered/booked in and others which I'm saving up for here is the list in which I intend the modifications to come.

Firstly is a Standard Remap on the Stock Car.
Remap quote is
"Original HP: 163
Tuned HP: 193
HP Increase: 30
% Increase: 18%
Original Nm: 230
Tuned Nm: 270
Nm Increase: 40
% Increase: 17%"

Braided brake lines - Goodridge Phantoms (all that power, ill need better breaking) - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Goodridge-Braided-Brake-Lines-Mercedes-SLK200-55AMG-R171-03-2004-on-/201013387840?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2ecd54e240

Drilled and grooved Mtec discs and pads. http://www.mtecbrakes.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=116_464_494&products_id=17464

Ultra racing Braces (I'm going to need to handle) - http://www.cksperformance.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=27_97_86_2159

H&R lowering springs - http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/lowering-springs/car/mercedes-benz/slk-r171-04-on/2011/slk200/hr-lowering-springs-lowers-30mm

------------------------- from here no parts will be added, until they all go on together with a fully custom map --------------------------------------------

Väth intercooler - http://www.vaeth.com/en/vehicle-refinement/modeloverview/slk-class/slk-class-r171/benzine/slk-200-kompressor.html

Fully Custom Exhaust by AAS (including Sports Cats, removal of silencers and 4-2-1 headers). The car will be fitted with the Piecha 4 pipe diffuser so there will be 4 tips. 2 QTP exhaust bypass valves will be fitter just down from the Manifold, for optimal sound and performance. http://www.driftworks.com/qtp-electronic-exhaust-cutout-bypass-valve-and-y-pipe.html

Fully Custom Remap by GADTuning with Switchable maps (one for Performance and one for economy)

Possibility of Cold air intake depending on how cold I can get the air to the intake.

By this point here I'm aiming on hitting that 220BHP with 300NM on the performance map.

------------- below are possible ideas that I'm still reading up on -------------

Goodridge 200 Fuel hoses and fittings (demon-tweek.co.uk)

Uprated fuel pressure regulator

Sytec high flow fuel filter

Sytec motor sport fuel pump

Improved Fuel injectors (the cc I'll go for really does depend on the amount of power I'll SAFELY be able to put through the car.

Limited Slip diff - http://www.birdsauto.com/parts/23033230064

Porting the headers and supercharger

--------------------------------------- Fin.-------------------------------------------

I Have also modified the car's appearance though ill make another thread in the DIY mods section. I hope it's a good read. I'm sure I'll have missed something here or there, I'm can be fairly forgetful at 01:04am when I can't sleep! :tu:

I don't think the 200K will benefit from all those engine modifications. I would do some interior and exterior enhancements/accessories. You can't go wrong with white LEDs. As for performance, I'd suggest looking at the Kleemanm K2 kit and call it a day. Just my opinion.

I think the performance upgrades are a little bit optimisic.
I also remapped my 200K and I went from 151 hp (read on dyno..) to 184 hp.
193 sounds possible if you have 163 hp stock. But without a pulley, I doubt it can go to 220 hp.

Welcome.

Thanks everyone for the kind introductions! (i know I'm kind of in the wrong place to introduce myself hehe) I've read into the Pulley kits that various different company's offer and the performance benefits sound great. Though the pulley kit I've seen so far seem massively over priced, and i cant seem to find one at a more reasonable price..

Why didn't you just buy a higher spec car in the first place?

By the time you add up the cost of the mods and the increase to your insurance premium when you declare them (or risk negating any claim) you could have bought a more powerful SLK....

Don't take this personally, I'm all in favour of sympathetic and / or really beneficial mods but you need to be realistic....

I did think you may have been "at the younger end of the scale" when I read your post.

My sincere advice is check with your insurance company before any performance mod. At best they will charge you more at worst you wont be insured if you don't tell them then have a mishap.

As a fellow Geordie (I assume) just be patient with what you've got, a great car, and in 10 or 20 years or so when your insurance is reasonable you can agonize over buying the latest performance mod or spending your money on something worthwhile.

As someone who's gone through extensive mods in a c230k as, I'd say take the mods slow. Enjoy each one. If you've been bitten by the mod bug and become an addict like me, phasing it out over time will be more enjoyable and easier on the wallet.

I know you're not necessarily asking for advice, but at your age, the modding can also be a valuable tool for achieving other goals. Straight A's one semester? Celebrate with a mod! Got into an awesome college! Celebrate with another. You get the picture.

Well so far, I have the mtec brakes, EBC pads. I did have some snazzy 18" AMG series III wheels but they were stolen so I'm back to my original 16"s.. Exhaust is booked in for two weeks time, with new headers, a QTP exhuast bypass valve, one sports cat and one cat deleted. Next month I'll be getting my pulley kit and a remap, though I'd prefer to find an intercooler before that happens...
