I haven't owned my SLK55 for too long but was instantly impressed with it's power and noise but frustrated by its laggy gear shift when using the manual selection.

I took it to my local Mercedes performance specialist in the UK and they fitted a system called Sprint Booster that electronically removes the lag in gear change and throttle response. It has gives the driver the ability t switch it off, have it at a semi-aggressive setting (Green setting) or full aggression (Red setting).

It cost £200 fitted and the difference is impressive. Even in Green mode the gear changes are very quick but put it in red mode and they are near enough instant and if you leave the car in auto gear change and plant your foot down the gear changes are as quick as an F458 (which I've been lucky enough to drive) and it accelerates quicker than standard.

In my opinion it's a must have performance mod for not much money.

That's an insanely affordable mod, and sounds great.
Thanks for the thread OP!

Is it hard on the car at all to have this mod?
I read the accompanying thread, sounds like there may be some issues with it.

Last thing I wanna do is a mod that is hard on the car.

Thoughts?

That's insane.
Too easy.

Is there a way to set it back to original?

I see where you say you reset yours every 6 months... so is that about the duration the setting holds?

Thanks, banks.

Hi. I got this fitted at CKS Performance who are near Watford. They specialise in Mercedes performance mods. I had one fitted to my previous SLK320 (R170) and used it in Red mode for nearly two years without any issues at all. They have a pretty good website where you can loo up details on the Sprint Boost and other mods they can do (they focus mostly on ECU and exhaust upgrades).

I've seen that CKS performance advertising on eBay, yes definitely do a lot of things for the Merc's.

I got one off ebay Germany and fitted it today, you don't need to stomp the throttle in red mode that's for sure.

What do you think? Noticeably better throttle response and gear change for not much money really?

I've been leaving mine in the green setting and find that setting suits me most. I notice the gear changes seem to be quicker in the red setting for sure, especially the down shifts.

I believe this is similar to the dte pedalbox system?
ive been thinking about installing one but not so sure after reading various forums about it mainly bmw forums regarding the pedalbox
