Now the SLK350 has gone, there are a number of items I won't have a use for.

Following is a 'heads up' list to gauge interest, I will add more things as I find them:

- Complete fully operational Star C3 system with DAS/Xentry includes laptop
- DIM Sport 'My Genius' OBD flash programmer (hoping to be able to sell unlocked with tune files to suit R171 SLK350)
- Akebono Euro low dust brake pads F & R to suit early build R171 SLK350 (new)
- R171 three spoke steering wheel with gear change buttons (not paddles) no airbag
- R171 LH side mirror LED indicator strip and housing (new)
- M272 improved design (non-leaky) oil cooler/filter housing (new)
- M272 thermostat assembly (new)

- All parts used unless otherwise stated
- MB part numbers available upon request
- All items located in Australia but willing to ship internationally

Make me an offer (or two) I can't refuse!

Cheers,
Brian

One more item found this morning:

- 2 x OEM SLK 350 mufflers with tips, excellent condition

These would probably be too expensive to ship internationally...

Cheers,
Brian

I've recently gotten a r170 and have been trying to find tuning options for turbocharging it. I don't know much about the dimsport and have been reading about it but still unclear on some things.

Is it vehicle specific or can it be used for different vehicles? Any licensing fees involved?

Also how much do you want for it?

Thanks!

The DIMsport MyGenius 'box' is just another flavor of OBD flash programming devices of which there are quite a few. It can theoretically be used on any OBD port enabled vehicle for which the company has developed firmware support.

The MyGenius device currently supports a wide range of vehicles including the R170 and R171 SLK. The complete list can be found here:

Typically when you buy the device it is 'blank'. You would then load tune files that you purchase from a tuning company onto the device via your PC. The first time you connect the device to your car, it locks to your VIN and will no longer work with any other vehicle.

The device can usually be unlocked for a fee, which allows you to use the tunes already loaded on another vehicle of the same make and model or load new tunes that you purchase for a different make/model onto the device.

My device was locked to my vehicle, but I have the reset code to unlock it.

how much do you want for it?
I am looking for $200 USD.

Hi BAC,

What do you want for the Star system?

Also will the dimsport actually allow you to change your A/F and ignition timing curves, say while tuning on a dyno?

Thanks. I just saw your reply. As soon as I pay my bills for the first of the month I'll see what I've got left to play with. I definitely would like to snag this from you.

Why do you want to change to a turbocharge? The 230 is supercharge which has not turbo delay.

The stock supercharger is insanely small and has no potential to produce any substantial gains. With a turbocharger I can make 4-500hp and still make around 400ft/lbs of torque with over 300ft/lbs from 3000rpm. with the supercharger an exhaust, header, pulley, tune is almost $2k and gives you maybe 20-30hp. Including forged rods and pistons, new bearings, and all machine work in addition to a custom built turbo kit it might cost $5-6k. And that's an easy 200+ whp. Turbochargers are far superior to superchargers imo.

Why not just sell the 230, take the 5 grand and buy an SLK32. 349bhp, add $500 more or less for a smaller pulley and get about 380 bhp,
Just another thought?

Several reasons. turbos are much more efficient than superchargers and I can make tons more usable torque with a turbo setup. Overall a much better powerband. And can still make much more power with the turbo setup I'm looking at doing than a supercharger or the AMG could make and still do it for less money. I like to do things that other people don't do. I like sleepers"..not that it's a total sleeper per say but nobody would expect a little old slk to be as quick as I'm gonna make mine. Plus I love doing this type of stuff.

You'll be limited in output of pressurizing by the higher CR of the NA engine. That is unless you are planning to put a stronger bottom end and lower CR forged pistons in.

I agree with Idiot101, If you have to have the g1 body style get the 32 and tweak it. Dollar for dollar you'd be better off. And if you needed more power there is plenty of room in the trunk for NOS.

Nobody is doing that either.
