Mirror facelift - things are closer than they appear!!

Evening all

I've mentioned on a few other threads that the mirrors and front bumper are to be changed for the facelifted versions - I've already done a few other things - wheels (easier to change them over than to refurb them), instrument cluster (needed to get TPMS working correctly), window switches (because I could!!) and no it's time to do the mirrors

I've already upgraded mine to the powered folding type (http://www.slkworld.com/general-modifications-r171/33942-folding-mirrors-making-start.html) and these will aslo be powered fold

So - I managed to grab a couple of facelifted mirrors - only the drivers mechanism is the motorised folding type so still on the lookout for the passengerside one .. (this happened when I did the original power fold upgrade - it took longer to find the second one!!)

Here's a facelifted mirror

and showing the front ...

I have a pair - in a strange twist of fate, they are both the same Fire Opal red ...

Pre stripping for spraying

And stripped of all of the internals, ready for spraying

I picked up the newly sprayed bits today, ready to be re-assembled

and

A little job for the Christmas break - it won't take too long to refit the indicators and swivel bases and then they'll be ready to bolt to the car ...

More to follow ...

it will be good to see if you have the same reverse memory problem I had, I had to re set the default positions but still seem to have something going on with it.

Afternoon all

Just a quick one today...

Mirrors installed - a few before and after pics...

Standard pre-facelift mirrors (the 'before')

And the 'after' - Post facelift mirrors all hooked up

They're slightly larger than the pre-facelift ones, so you can see more behind you, and the body shop has done an excellect job with the spraying so you'd probably never know they'd been changed!!

Only the drivers side is power fold at the moment - still on the lookout for the correct base for the passenger side, but one will turn up somewhere!!

I now have these to get rid of...!! (pre facelift, powerfolding with memory & heated glass)

How much for the power folding mirrors? Are they auto dim?
How much for the power folding mirrors? Are they auto dim?
They're not auto dim (the glass in both is heated), but one of them IS wired for an auto dimming mirror - think it's the left one.

I'll PM you with the rest
@Seanhump: did you use your old pre-facelift door control modules with facelift mirrors? did they work ok? thank you
Sean,

Can I have 3rd dibs on the old folding mirrors?

Thanks, Jon
Sean will confirm when he can (busy at work at the mo'), but yes, the facelift mirrors work with the pre-facelift door modules..

Yep - Door controllers stayed as they were and the facelift mirrors work perfectly

Hi Jon

They're long gone ....

They come up on evilbay from time to time though ...
If you are looking for a probably cheaper and easier option you can get facelift covers that fit over the pre facelift hardware. Very easy to do and look just as good :)
