My latest mod: gloss black vinyl wrap. Another SLKWorld member, Victor, was behind me.

A lot of people were shocked when they saw on my windshield that it was a SLK350.

Looks like a great turnout. Nice to see car meets with all Mercedes. The local BMW club is very active here but the MB isn't. Thanks for sharing.

Nice pics. So that upright nose in two of the later pictures is the new CLS? It looks just like the SLK!! Mercedes really are all starting to look alike now... I do like that they didn't put the sidemarker in the headlight. That will really bug me when I finally buy a 172; probably enough to try and source a set of Euro headlights.

It was a great turnout, surprisingly. At some point they ran out of buns, burgers, and hot dogs. Although there were a lot of Mercedes, it seemed like a lot of them were either stock or old school. Also-no offense to the MB Club-their members seem a bit older and don't share the same interests or modifying like I do with my SLK.

Yea, I guess most of the MB models have that SLS nose now. It seems like those LED strips are all the craze right now.

I've been saying that for awhile, they are all starting to look the same, unlike previous models where they all looked different. That is another reason I don't like the r172, there is no originality. The r171 took styling cues from the SLR, unlike the r172 that looks like a smaller SLS.

I know what you mean, that's why I didn't join the local MB clubs here, members are a lot older. I don't have problem with age, I can have a conversation with a 5 or 85 year old, it's just they don't have the same interest as me. Like you, I like to mod my cars and the older MB owners prefer it stock.

sweet pics james!

i have the SAME issue with my local MB club. Im trying to make my way up in the ranks, and hopefully inject some youth into my local organization. however the majority do all drive "classic" MBs with the goal of keeping them stock and maintained. they do like to cruise tho, so we have that in common.
one of the oldest members (in both regards) actually drives a late model E63... but he is even anti-mod. a couple of the members have welcomed me (pres and vice pres) but the actual members just nearly look at my car in disgust, as if they just dont understand.
one thing is for certain though, Im one of the few who actually know how to work on my car. maybe thats why they act...intimdated almost... is for that fact. that and I suppose a lot of those guys were around before the introduction of the smaller intry level C-class, and SLK. they, as purists, prolly dont even believe that the C or SLK have a place in the MB lineup.
