At the end of January 2020, Britain will start the process of leaving the EU, which may happen with or without a deal in place. Should the latter happen, car dealers here are already preparing for a price boost due to tariffs on goods entering the UK.

I doubt the UK need fear much with German manufacturers.
Outside the US, the UK is one of the largest markets for them.

I hope the same manufactures are putting warnings that they do not guarantee that the
software that cheats emissions testing will be legal too.

UK already has a bad impression of how the German makers are handling "dieselgate".
If they wish to kill a market, they are heading the right way.

Yes,
and No.

We have so many comforts now.
But we rely on them.
Much more to go wrong.

And sensors are b****y expensive.
Nearly £400 for a nox sensor for our 3rd merc!
Only 6 years old.

No more mercs coming to this household.

(Gullwing gets an exemption, maybe old SLs. Bum, gonna need a bigger garage!).

Journalists dont you just love them.

Statement 'Given that an overwhelming percentage of Brits voted for Brexit 3 and a half years ago '

Would hardly call 52 / 48 overwhelming.

Then there is 'At the end of January 2020, Britain will start the process of leaving the EU, which may happen with or without a deal in place. '

The UK WILL leave the EU on 31 January. There will then be a transition period during which things will stay basically the same except that the UK will no longer be involved in the EU Parliament etc and this due to end 31/12 whilst an attempt to agree trade deals. If not agreed by then and no extension (to be agreed by 31/07) then the UK will leave with no deal.

Ideal time for sharp practices.

Rubbish article, the MB Dealers I spoke to back in 2018 (when We where meant to be leaving the EU in March 2019) where up front that the price could go up due to an increase in import duty...

Think the article should have read how the customer had missed the odd mention of "Leaving the EU" in the news for 3.5 years and how car prices could go up by just under 10% if there was a "No Deal" departure...

Journalists sensationalise.
Companies use any old excuse to hike prices and not deliver service.

Nothing changes.

It's not political.
It's modern (dodgy) business practises.

Bring out the dead donkey!
