Just joined Mercedes Benz Club of America.....cost was minimal at 45$ and the lure of a grand off my next purchase seems to make membership a good choice for me. I also like the Star magazine and thought membership in a nearby section (Indianapolis 500) might foster some good recreational activities for Challenge. I assume they have similar organizations in Canada and Britain.

Any comments on this club from SLKWorld members?

Yes

Cons
All activities designed around age 85 members
Zero interest in DIY; tech advice in magazine pathetic
Magazine about nothing but restoration of 1950s junk

Pros
Nice discounts at dealer
National runs very nice Euro tours
All officers will die of old age soon

Of course I'm spoiled being a member of a BMW motorcycle club.

I'm also member of BMW CCA although don't currently own a BMW car--lots more fun club and they do NOT attend operas or broadway-style plays as club activities.

As a middle aged guy, I can fully appreciate the interests of both younger and older enthusiasts. It is the love of automobiles that brings us together. I learn something useful from most everyone I meet and to me trying new things (even the opera) is enjoyable more often than not.

I'm an under-50 member in Arizona, and while the local chapter is definitely dominated by older folks, we're working to add more driving events and make it more fun. The STAR magazine has a lot of emphasis on history & racing that doesn't interest me much, but it's still a good read overall. The financial perks are good too.

I recommend membership. Anyone who joins in southern AZ with an SLK, let me know because we ARE going driving this winter!

Love the Star mag. I let the membership run out after i went to several Meet and Greet and Events. Them Folks have been abit to ananl and fuzzy for my taste. So i took the $ 45.00 and joined the Hustler Club Never a Cover charge 2 4 1 Table Dances Drink Specials and them Girls are alot friendlier than at the Mb Club. The best $45.00 i ever spend for a Membership.

I would add that the Star is too much of a 'hah rah' megaphone for M-B. I think it should take M-B to task for it's mistakes as well as applaud it's accomplishments like the Roundel does of BMW.

Note: I also belong to two BMW m/c clubs. Have you noticed that BMW RA's OTL is coming on very sterong of late?
