Just returned from taking the new ML for a tour of the Mercedes Benz factory in Vance Alabama then on to Gulf Shores for some r and r. Very interesting factory tour with beautiful museum and nice MB store. Pics include the new ML out front of the facotry, signed 1st off the line vehicle, concept ML, and Jurassic Park ML (sorry I cut off the dinosaur on the roof).

First long road trip (1500 miles) in the ML was very enjoyable. The ML is quiet, smooth, comfortable, and averaged 22mpg @ 80mph on the interstate.

Glad to hear the trip went well. Interested in hearing more about the tour - any secret rooms they let you see in but confiscated your camera? Also - how did the vacation in LA go? (around there LA means Lower Alabama) Any good activities and/or places to eat?

The MBUSI tour was nice, but a little different than I expected. It was more an indoctrination into MB quality policies and team member concepts than it was about building the cars. The walking tour was so fast paced we really didn't get a chance to stop and gaze at the operations. We saw only limited portions of the factory and cameras were not permitted in manufacturing areas.

While in Orange Beach we stayed at a wonderful new Hampton Inn and Suites right on the beach. It had a super covered parking garage with premium sized spaces. Two fantastic resturants in the area.....Wolf Bay Inn @ Zeke's Landing in Orange Beach and Ribs and Reds in Gulf Shores. The Wolf's Bay had exceptional food....huge portions at a fair price. Ribs and Reds had great barbeque and those huge red deepwater shrimp.
