My new smart phone appears to have me outsmarted as the MBrace mobile android ap will not allow me past the legal-ease screen.....so I cannot proceed to the registration screen. I get "forced shutdown/report" buttons which then take me out of the ap.

Some details.......maybe germane....maybe not......

1) Our local rural cell carrier (Mayberry RFD Telephones, Dry Goods, and Notions) does not support IPhones so we are using the Samsung Galaxy which per the MBZ website is compatible.

2) Several calls to MBrace....frustrating their tech guy who also cannot run the ap on his simulator. Now tech guy is asking the ap developers "what's up?"

3) Thought it might be an encryption issue with the carrier so traveled down range to civilization (Verizon country) wiped and reloaded the ap....same message.

MBZ said they would get back to us next week (any bets?)......thought some of you might have a suggestion/solution. Thanks!

Thanks PitchRate! Hope we can get it figured out...I was consoled by the fact that the MBrace guy kept getting the same message. I'm sure its a great system.....when it works!

Similar in many ways to GM's "On-Star" service.
Mercedes-Benz mbrace services are available in two packages, giving you the freedom to choose the subscription plan - and the level of service - that best suits your needs.

Safety & Security mbrace $280 per year
mbrace PLUS - Automatic Collision Notification $520 per year
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OnStar

Safe & Sound
Includes OnStar Emergency, Connections, Diagnostics,
and Security services.
per year $199

Directions & Connections
Includes OnStar Safe & Sound features, plus unlimited Turn-by-Turn Navigation services. Most new GM vehicles include a subscription to this plan.
per year $299

Andriod Ap

Some news on the MBRACE Ap problem describe above.......MBZ technical staff has determined that our cell carrier uses a + character in advance of the 1 for coding the phone number. We can see this on the phone when we look at the Phone Status portion of the Settings menu.

It seems the software which drives the ap can only process numeric characters. Our cell carrier says their digital switch operating platform uses the + as a unique identifier for their customers and this cannot be changed. MBRACE tech is talking with Hughes Telematics about modifying the Ap program to accept non-numeric characters.....so this issue might be confounding many customers.

I'm impressed that MBZ is willing to go the extra mile to help us make the Ap work for us. Maybe someone with advance telecom knowledge will comment......I find this all very interesting.
