After seeing their ad in the Star magazine I ordered a set of Mandrus wheels for my 2012 R172. Front wheels as delivered said 18x8.5 and rear 18x9.5. The problem is the rear (stock) Pirelli P Zero's (245x35 18's) look to be not quite wide enough to fill the 18x9.5 rear rims. Wondering if a 255x35 would fill it and if anyone else has had a similar problem?

Mine aren't Mandrus wheels , but they're 18" with 9'5 rears , I'd say that your 245's are two narrow , I have 255's on mine and they could really do with being 265's !

I'm running 18" Mandrus Mannheim on my 98 SLK230. 8.5 up front with 225/40/18 and 9.5 in the back with 255/35/18. The rear wheel could certainly could take a 265 providing you have clearance.

I just spoke to a tech rep at Tirerack who seemed very knowledgable and familiar with the issue. He said that while the 18x9.5 wheel could physically take a 265 or even higher, they weren't allowed to sell anything wider than a 255 for this particular application in order to stay within MB tech specs

Your 'stock' 245s will not fit because of the word stock. Stock is a tyre for an 8.5J rim. You have changed to 9.5J so stock gets thrown out! 255 is what you need now.
I admire the honesty of Tirerack from what you have said! I cannot see any reason why you would want a 265 anyway!

I have the same setup on my 2007 280. No issues

Thanks to all. Job done. P Zero 255's on the rear now and they are a proper fit for the Mandrus 18 x 9.5's. BTW, I can't say enough about the tech support at Tire Rack. These guys knew FAR more about the issue than the MB dealer.
