I’m referring to the term sprockets to include both the inlet version and the exhaust. For the later m271 engine that is turbocharged MB sell 1 of 2 sprockets ( new and reconditioned ) with obviously a great deal of difference in price.
For the earlier m271 that is supercharged they used to sell 1 of 2 ( new and reconditioned ) but now only new are available at a cost of app. £500 each so limiting options of justifying a repair on a heavily depreciated car.
Does anyone have any suggestions into what I can do in order to obtain some affordable sprockets that are preferably not used.
I know there was a sellar in South Africa who was manufacturing them but cannot seem to retrieve his contact details.
Maybe a great business opportunity to manufacture these sprockets as an alternative to the costly MB option to keep these cars with the early M271 engines on the road.
