Just picked up a 2012 SLk 55 AMG. Looking into lowering it with H&R springs but the only thing I can find for lowering is KW coil overs. I don't want to go head long with coil overs that cost $2900. Does any company make lowering springs for my car??

I have a 2013 SLK 55 AMG. i bought springs from Vath. The springs didnt have TUV papers. Vath confirmed that they had the TUV papers before i ordering, but it was all a lie. (Vath delivered H&R springs) DO NOT BUY SPRINGS FROM VATH!
I bought Brabus springs with TUV papers. But these were too soft. Now i have Coillower set from KW.

I just picked up a brand new set of Brabus springs (25-30mm drop) for €100 delivered from a German dealer on eBay.

BRABUS Sportfedern Mercedes Benz SLK R172 | eBay

Now, obviously it won't be €15 shipping to the US and you might have to pay some import duties but they're still very cheap.

I had seen the brabus springs before I ordered my eibach springs , I thought they was just for the 200/250 petrol engine cars ? Where's the diesel and 55 had a heavier engine and the springs are stiffer to suit the weight ! Eibach had 2 sets to suit the smaller petrol and another set for the diesel and 55 . Do brabus offer different springs for the different models? Saying that I really like how my car drives with the eibach's , but I would like the rear a tiny bit lower , maybe 10/15 mm more , purely just for looks 😄

Update ,,, I should of clicked on the link lol. I see that ad is for the 6,8 cylinder and diesel ,,, one only ones I found before was just for the 4 cylinder petrol ....

Springs from Brabus is softer than the original springs. I know this because I had these installed before KW3 coil overs.
I think you will find they are variable rate so the initial movement is soft but as the load increases the spring rate stiffens quite substantially. It has to otherwise the car would be constantly bottoming out. Ultimately a shorter Spring must be stiffer or the car would bottom out. They use the variable rate springs as otherwise the lowered cars would be too stiff to drive normally.

Hmmm ebay seller said "does not ship to the US" in red letters. Bummer for those here who might like those..
Have you asked them? I think they are away until 5/1/16 (that's 1/5/16 in Americanese). It could be they just don't want the hassle of shipping duties.

On the Skoda forums they have a thing called the 'green line' that ships stuff from one end of the UK to the other via folks travelling past locations.

I'm sure if someone in the US really wanted a set of these springs it could be arranged but you'd need to make sure of the shipping charges and import duties first. Perhaps when mine arrive I can get a quote to ship a set to the US and folks could make a decision then. Plus everyone would need to agree not to bid these up!

Would you be so kind as to tell us about your KW's and your overall experience from OEM to this aftermarket solution? Handling, etc...thanks!

Very possible. "Ya have not because ye ask not...", ya know? It's worth trying when I'm ready. Thanks!

KW3 coilover are plug and play. You can change to coilover in 6-8 hours if you have the right tools.
I have the KW3 on my SLK 55 AMG but i havent tried it that much because its winter here now and i dont use tha car in the winter.
But its little softer with normal driving and more stiff with hard driving/fast driving.
If you want to change rims you have to check the space between rims and the spring.
H&R springs from VAETH wasnt tried on because the springs were not legal to use on the SLK 55 AMG. Do not buy springs from VAETH, when i tried to send them back they wouldn't give me the money back.
The springs from BRABUS were low and very soft. Mercedes SLK KW Coilover V3

So now i use the KW3 and i have bought X-Pipe for better sound, but i still is looking for perfect 19'' rims. (Space between rims and spring)

You must have the DDC variants if they are the electrically adjustable units. Very cool. I definitely would desire the coilover KW's over just swapping out springs. Thanks for your post!
