lost bolt in undertray

1321 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  klunk
Hi all,

I have dropped a hex bolt (and a socket ) in the under tray when changing the cam solenoid....

Are these easy to remove and is the bolt likely to be in there, it did make a hollow noise when it landed...

I am asking as it is stormy and rainy here now so will probably do it tomorrow armed with good advice rather than going in blind and hopeful.

Cheers all

Pretty easy if you can get the car up in the air a little bit (ramps or jackstands). I've never tried with it on the ground.
Thanks, i'll have a go as soon as the weather turns
Have you got one of those telescopic magnets, you could always try fishing around with that?
All sorted now, although i couldn't get the metal under tray they were both in the plastic front tray thing so all good.

Got a modified hockey puck thing from eBay for 7 quid ( 10 dollars ish ) that worked a treat for jacking up.

This is the one

Mercedes Benz Rubber Jack Jacking Pad adapter Tool also fits BMW | eBay
