Hi everyone I'm new on this forum and am looking for some advice about my 1999 Slk200 Kompresor. Late last year I was driving my car hard when all of a sudden it wouldnt go past 4200rpm, its starts to backfire. So I took it in to a local shop and they said the timing was off and replaced timing chain, tensioner, sprocket, spark plugs etc. When I went to pick it up for a test drive, the problem was still there, 4200 RPM backfire! The repair didn't fix a thing, brought it back to the shop, shut the car down to bitch at the mechanic and when we were to go for our second test drive the car wouldnt start. So they replaced new MAF sensor, soldered the k40, checked the cps and the flap for the supercharger and no faults on the computer.
In summary, 7 months in the shop, 4k dollars later and still the same, hard start, and RPM problem still persists. Any ideas? Was thinking about burning it to clam insurance :)

Welcome from New Hampshire, did they replace the MAF with an MB part or some aftermarket part? replace the CPS the part only cost $8 and 30 seconds of your time. Unplug the MAF and see if the car still has the same problems.

Thanks for the quick reply. The CPS has been changed but Im not sure what brand of MAF sensor was used. I will try to take a trip down to the shop to find out.
