There is a Leather Strap with a stretch loop at one end, located aft
of the right seat. It looks like it covers the mechanism that retracts
the roof.

The stretch loop has come off something under the plastic cover next
to the "roll bars" to the rear of the seats.

How do I get inside to re-connect this loop ??

I could attach a photo of this, but can't figure out how to do that,
then again, are photo's allowed ??

Thanks for any help,

Richard S.

You can either use an image hosting site such as Photobucket and use the URL link from there - copy the 'direct link', click on the
button at the top of the 'reply to thread' window, and paste the link into that, or you can add them as an attachment to your post.

1. When you post a thread or reply, write your text, then scroll down past the 'Submit Reply' button, and you'll see a 'Manage Attachments' button.

2. Click on this, and the following box will appear. click on 'Browse' in the top section (Upload files from my computer) and you should be able to find your piccies and up load them to the forum.

This happened to me a while back... I fixed it using an old metal coat hanger... I bent it into an 'L' shape, and fished around under the plastic where the flap needs to go until I got hold of the loop of elastic that secures the flap.

I pulled this out, secured it and then faffed around with the flap and the metal pin until it was attached again - you do need three arms to do this!

Loose Leather Strap: Part 2

I got the strap back where it should be, and you are right,
you need three arms.

But, both straps are pretty worn and the elasticity is shot.

Where can I find the part numbers for these little darlin's so
I can order a pair to replace the worn ones.

Thanks for all the previous responses,

rs

If you have access to a sewing machine, you can replace the elastic very easily. I got some elastic at Wal-mart, 3/4" by several feet really cheap. Sew it like the original and you're good to go. And you can have it done by the afternoon. No waiting for parts and spending an absurd amount of money on them. BTW, it's a vinyl piece, not leather. And you can access it easier by putting the roof up halfway and blocking it there.

Wow !!

I just looked up the number Jeff Banks used and it is $52 per side. That's $104 Plus shipping. Definitely go to Wal-mart or Jo-Ann Fabrics or anywhere and get some black elastic.
