I didn't go to this show (Los Altos CA) however someone on the forum posted pics from the show. I thought this was a little more interesting than 200 pics of the same cars with more do-dads than should be legal.

With no valid reason and with no defensible rationalization: I want one of those. I'm just waiting for one to hit the used market!

There's a black one down the road with 750 miles on it for a cool £174,950 - think that xe's to about $272k - still a bit to high for me!

You only stated, "a bit" so it's not out of reach :)

Nah - not completely - but don't ever see myself justifying that much outlay on something that will take a 50% hit every year - and as importantly, every mile. I'd want to drive the beast!

Was having a nice coffee with one of our UK SLK friends, and we've both seen and sat in an SLS. They absolutely, positively look better in person than in any pictures I've seen. Neither of us could exactly put our fingers on "why"!

Cockpit is stunning from the inside, feels large and roomy, seats are a treat and sounds is stunning from inside and out. Still not loving the rear 3/4 view, but all in all much better than I thought, so gives me some hope on the R172!

OK. OK. OK. I actually SAT in one today. It was at the dealer and it is amazing. Holy poop - carbon fibre was so pretty in the door sills. God. I want one.

It will be interesting to see if/how much they sell for used. Glad to see it starts at 50% of the SLR MSRP.

It's nice but ... when I drove it I missed not having a sunroof or better the top going down and found sitting behind the wheel the front is very long. You also better be tall or have long arms to close the door when you are inside also, my wife had issues with this. There should be a strap hanging down or better a button so the door comes down all the way or a bit to assist. Opening the door you also have to have concerns where you are and what's above because you open and let it go. The interior was very jet cock pit like which I liked, ride was nice and the power was exceptional, fit and finish also liked.

I was looking foward to buying but didn't!

I sold my SL55 AMG recently but prior to doing this I did allot of driving of different vehicles and putting money aside for a small two seater hardtop convertible the SLK55 was my fav. different strokes for different folks and that's what makes the world go arround.

I know of two that came in recently, new list on one was 190K and sold for 165K used with only 8500KM, other one new list 230K and sold for aprx. 190K, don't know what the KM was on it but apparently very low. Both were pre-ordered cars and once the owners took possesion and drove for a bit well I guess they didn't like them. They did not last long before selling though.

One item I wish my SLK had was an all leather interior, I like that detail and it being their AMG model I can't figure why they don't offer it, all the others do. I have heard that the new next generation will.

Oh by the way if you are buying one of these SLS's the service is very costly which shouldn't shock you or really be a concern if you can aford to lay out the coin to get one, I was shocked how exspensive my SL55 AMG.

Some dealers look at me strange when I'm looking at a specific vehicle because I now ask for a service schedules along with costs to do such, I have had a few with additude sugesting if I'm looking at such then I should be able to aford it, it's not that I can't aford it but hey it's my money and I would like to know what I'm in for down the road not like one time when I went in and picked up my SL55 AMG and the bill was almost 10K including taxes, brake job and some other stuff.

What ever your flavour is enjoy!

I've never seen one of these before. At first glance after reading the title of the thread I thought that the very top right photo posted looked like it may be a new corvette with an extreme body kit on it.

I was sorely mistaken! Wow, what a beautiful ride. :tu:

I did get a chance to take a short test drive in a red one. Autoweek did a driver's log on one and was not all that impressed:

Here's what I keep thinking: If this car were exactly the same but it did not have these doors, is there anyone who would honestly be willing to bet that it would draw half as much attention as it does now? Take the doors off, and it could easily just be the next-generation SL. That's a problem for me at this price. To everyone in here oozing all over this thing...

There was one in the next service bay over from my 280 when I brought it in for service, roof repair pre-purchase inspection......... My service advisor informed me the SLS was in for it's first scheduled service. The cost $5,000.00................
