After the meet. A couple of members liked a few of the things I have added to the car. So I thought I would put a list on here, it will also help me find parts if I need to re order.

Below is a list of all the little bits and pieces you wanted to look at.
All of the parts are free p+p or postage on top.
The part numbers should still be active but if not just use the description.

Hope it helps. I will update when I can and when I get new stuff.

Cheers Phil :D

If you want a cheaper option you could always 'dip' your knob in carbon fibre!

Got my cup holders fitted today, Mercedes wipers and new fuel cap due to corrosion. Along with a pair of new C Pillars. Nice and shiny. Kept the old ones for spares, as could get them wrapped if wanted. Unfortunately the power throttle didn't fit as the wiring was different, so need to get one elsewhere.
Cosmetic work nearly done. Then time to move onto other upgrades :D
Which will consist of Yellow stuff brake pads, X pipe de cat, Remap, Lowered and BMC Filters next.
Undecided if to go for full de cat or the usual. Remap is only £180. With all that done properly apparently can gain 40-50 BHP.

I've started getting the bits together to overhaul my brakes. Decided to go with Redstuff pads all round and new OEM rotors. I've got the pads ready to go and have ordered the front rotors from Eurocarparts. Will get the rear rotors and new wear sensors from Mercedes as they aren't too bad price wise.

Would be wary of going full de-cat route but if I did I'd get the Kleeman long tube headers losing the primary cats and then fit some smaller high flow cats to make it emissions friendly. If you do it Phil it will sound mental!

I'm still thinking about remapping too but will involve travelling to a reputable tuner.

Phil, Col, I'm not even considering losing the front cats... what I have is plenty loud enough for me (although my son would beg to differ)! However, if either of you have a remap done, I'd be interested to hear your views of it... :D

Stop

Stop all this 'X' Pipe, De-Cat Noise thing, you are playing with my mind.
I had my Skoda re-mapped and it made a world of difference but it is a Diesel.
The main reason I got it done was for better drive ability. What would a remap do for the 55? More power but how much?

It's trying to find the right place to the motor remapped. I was rather put off by talking to the local sports car/Merc specialist. If anyone knows somewhere south of Watford I'd like to know. There's always CKS. I'm cautious anything too cheap. The X pipe was a fab mod. Just getting the brakes painted and a front lip fitted.
The 80's boy in me wants ironing board spoiler but that maybe a mod too far. It'll really upset the early middle aged conservatives on this forum ????

That's full de cat and yea it is mental! Not sure if it would be too loud though for long drives. I think the x pipe, secondary cats and resonators taken out is sufficient. But then part of me thinks take them all out >:D
Where I take it I know the guy would pass it's MOT for me. But I don't want negative attention drawing to me by the police, especially when I get the jammer fitted.
Because it's normally aspirated I didn't think there would be much to gain. But apparently you can get up to 20 bhp, for £180 that's a bargain! Exhaust apparently can up up to 20 bhp and the filters 3-4 bhp. But will get the extra growl.

My partner has already gone mad about spending money on the C Pillars, not essential, I haven't told her about the cup holders yet :D o and the fuel cap.

I've only been quoted 20-25 hp and similar gain in torque. Hoping a bit more could be possible with no secondary cats and a custom tune. It's harder to get good gains on normally aspirated petrol engines without mods to intake etc. As you said great gains on turbo diesels like your Skoda

These are reputable from what I've heard!

SLK55 AMG Performance Engine Software - SLK55 - SLK-Class - Mercedes - Products

As it happens they are in Watford! CKS are expensive and I've heard some bad things about them.

Please don't put an "ironing board" on your SLK!

I had my previous '09 171 55 remapped by Eurocharged. They have a very good reputation amongst the E63 boys.
I took advantage of a Christmas special which I think was about £300.
The tune is downloaded via a cable connected to the OBD port and a laptop.
The difference wasn't "night and day" - it only adds 20ish bhp and some torque but it smoothed out low speed throttle response and improved the mid range.
Was it worth it? Probably not at the full £600 but if you can cut a deal then...

Sadly they don't do anything for my 172 but then again perhaps 421bhp is enough!

Remapping is possibly a case of chasing numbers. The sprint booster seemed to erase the annoying throttle lag so is it worth an extra 20 BHP for £400-600? I'm nor convinced.
I just want my G paddles ?! Sounds like I need to get up to a Midlands meet to sweet talk the coding experts???

Is the sprint booster the same as the power throttle? 100% power like a cable accelerator. Have you got it fitted?
I'm assuming who does the coding on here has a boot leg version? As I tried to get Merc Specialists to do it, but there's is officially registered so can't change much. Think I need to get mine done by one of the guys off here too.

No just a plug a play version, cost £150 from Germany. It just changes the sensitivity of the throttle, on red it seems to erase the throttle lag which is so frustrating.
As mods go, the Carbon gel overlay to the dash is great and simple. Not cheap especially when import tax gets added (best ones from the US) but adds that much need gloss to a surprisingly drab interior.
I'd love to change the head unit but with HK it seems too much of a faff.

I'll post some pics once Gertie is back from the body shop - sans spoiler for the old farts ???
