Got a bit fed up with how bad the headlights are (even with the aim adjust etc) so decided to go LED for a bit better performance.

H7 120W Philips Lumiled LED Headlight Bulb Kit Canbus For Mercedes CLK SLK 97-On | eBay

Easy enough but high beams are fiddly so will no doubt need light out to do. I dropped one of the bulb collars too so it's gonna have to come out to retrieve and I'll do them at the same time :|

I'd recommend jacking the car up a bit for easier access but all in all took me around 30 mins.

Some things to bear in mind - careful to not drop the clip!!! Put the bulb collar on first and then fit buld.

Steps to do are;

1) Turn wheels away from side you are working on
2) Jack car up at least 6 inches
3) Remove bulb covers
4) Remove connector
5) push clip up and remove old bulb
6) Fit new bulb collar, hold in place and slide clip down
7) Fit ballasts, test and reassemble
8) Rinse and repeat for the other side.

Voila!

Were your lights under the main light yellow before? If so, could you tell me how did you change them to that color and what kind of bulb are they? Thank you.

Even though I had trouble-free operation with mine for several months, I am now experiencing the same issue with my LED bulbs. However, I did not buy the same as described above. However, I am learning that I may have omitted the Resistor pack that came with my kit. I will be installing them this weekend and will report back.

Recommendation: sinoparcel 6000k 8000LM passive radiator LEDs. Error free. Decent downfield. Probably not 8000LM more like 4000 but thats still 2x the Sylvania junk that MB uses. Can be used for both projectors and brights. $45 on Amazon.

The problem with anything from China is that the suppliers are permanently evolving their products ie. to make them cheaper to sell and produce and it’s very common for a supplier to pack 1000 kits that they put genuine time and effort into producing then reinvest the profits from that in 10,000 units that they just bang out. When the warranty claims come in, they’re either not there or not interested.

At least if you buy from eBay and pay PayPal you can get your money back easily enough.

Hi Guys,

Also upgraded the low beam lighting on my 2013 SLK350 and used the following product.

https://www.auxbeam.com/headlight-bulbs/H7/88621845

Came with control drivers to avoid error messaging.

Lights are looking great. Now I need to find a better solution for high beam since they are super yellow in comparison.
Which of the two packaging designs that they “randomly deliver” did you get? I would avoid any seller outside of the eBay system simply because paying by PayPal gets you your money back if they don’t work.

A) eBay and PayPal are both scams. Just like you can "get your money back" they can "take money out of your account."
B) active cooling with a fan is about as backwards in energy dissipation as you can get. I would not buy any design that relies of ball bearings, especially when claiming water resistance.

I got the lights delivered in a black with orange coloring box and bought them through Amazon in the US, so no transaction issues.

LED conversion

The projectors are in! Went for a bi-led projector setup, and then also had the main beam changed for an LED so at full beam there is massive output.

Will take some good pics soon, but here's some dashcam from my run home! (work was done by Headlight Retrofits in Renfrew)
