Got to admit that one of the best drivers & best glider pilots I've ever driven & flown with were female.
Where are you now ex-girlfriend Brenda Freeman who drove me round Dorset in her Spitfire & then its replacement a GT6? Should was fast & smooth ( as was her cars) & on late night drives to & from her parents home in Croydon I would nod off relaxed & confident with her driving skills. She even leant me her Spitfire whilst attending a air traffic controllers course in Scotland.
Of the many fellow glider pilots & pupils I have encountered those with the greatest sensitivity & delicacy of touch were always female.
It since occurred to me that unlike many insecure males, should I come across a female better at doing something than me it never did or does bother me. It's now 30 years ago since I lost out to a very clever lady when competing for a senior management position, yet I remember how I reasoned that if she was better qualified then so be it. Masculine indignation would have just made me look childish.
The sting in this tale is that the female glider pilots I still fly with are generally still the best but sadly I have not driven with a female driver that compares with my earlier experience, most seem to be aggressive have a chip on their shoulder wanting to prove something. Maybe wishing they were male?

Yet another mechanic at the same shop talked down to me when I finally took Sadie in for maintenance check up & new shoes. I was told something serious was wrong (went in 1 ear & out the other so I missed the specifics) he said the squeak in the rear was a sure sign, of a 3G repair bill. I told him that the squeak was the CD changer that came lose because its held by only one screw, lol. At the end I did get a free pair of OME wiper blades!

Now I just need to find some1 to install my running lights & after market stereo :(
Again hopefully before the next meet!
