I am looking for around 400hp and some throat to my stock slk 55 exhaust (07'). Can i get the hp from a kleeman upgrade? a local dealer/installer quoted over $11K installed. I just can't see dropping that kind of coin though. has K & N come up with a cold air intake for this little beast yet? If so, although I doubt its been developed, that may be a much more inexpensive way to get an hp boost. getting a little scared now with the nissan 370z bringing 330hp to the table!:tazz:

The 370Z runs a 13.6 1/4 @ 105 mph. Your AMG is a 12.7 car so I wouldn't be too concerned.

If you want another 45 Hp, get some Kleemann headers & ECU (I'm guessing for ~ $3k?....you can confirm w/Kleemann).

Hey Blown..

How far did you go with your Kleeman-ization?

SC, Headers, Cats?

Are you happy you did at this point?
Everything but the cams...plus a smaller pulley for more boost/power. Yes, I'm pleased with Kleemann...good & reliable power & torque - they make great products IMO.:flag:

I believe Brabus has a little package that is supposed to get you to 390hp for about $4,000.00, not counting install.

Thanks for the response, Matt!

Currently in a 09 SLK 350, but now really have the jones to move up to the SLK55.

I really love the R171. I mean really, regardless of exspense, I would still stay SLK over a SL, as I prefer smaller cars. I always loved the Fiero, Del Sol, MR2, MGB size of vehicles, I am only 5'6" and of course, our SLK's are Top Dog in this genre. Now I just hunger for raw power <3 to go with the MB appointments!

When I do bump to the SLK55, I will be working on doing Kleeman too!

How does warranty go with a Kleeman-ized vehicle? Of course engine/ drive train warranty is toasted by after market work..but will MB still warranty the rest of the vehicle? Do you still bring it to MB for services.. or need to seek out the shop that did the tuning? Was there after market warranties worth looking into post tuning? Or is it, "well.. I blew the cash to SC, hang onto some for repair!"

My approach (which has been proven successful for me) was to allow the Kleemann installer to complete all the install work & associated dyno tuning so the car was completly "ironed out" (ie no issues that I would need to bring to someone else to try & problem solve if something were to arise). Once all the dyno tuning was complete, I had a Check Engine Light that Kleemann quickly fixed...after that...no issues whatsover & it's been 3 years.:tu:

I spoke with my MB Service Manager assigned to my car (they team the Sales & Service guy as a "team" after the car sale) & he had zero issues with servicing the vehicle. In fact, they even found a lose intercooler hose clamp & adjusted the air intake gooseneck that had been modded by Kleemann so it fit "just right". I bought my Service Manager & the Head Dealer Tech that works on my car $100 Dinner Certificates to a local high end restaurant I like & always give them stellar Service write ups...me & my car are treated like Apollo & his chariot? Works for me...maybe since I show my gratitude for their professionalism & it's more biz for them...just my 2 cents.

The Kleemann warrany is 1 yr. My MB Dealership fixes anything "not Kleemann" under warranty...they did not void anything (not that the Kleemann stuff has or would cause any problems as they knoe Kleeman does research, patents their unique technologies, & back it with their own Service, advise, & a 1 yr warranty anyways). My blower actually produces more power operating with less boost than the OEM unit AMG installs on the SL55, E55, etc....it's a bit more of an efficient design from what i have read & witnessed for power output levels. Kleemann makes pretty good stuff, although Brabus too is a very high end MB customizer - their products also kick azz.:burnout:

Hope this helps? Cheers.
