I've been lurking on this forum soaking up advice. Circumstances fell in place and I find myself joining the club after looking for one for months, bordering on years.

2005 SLK 350
62k miles
6-speed

Right now I'm leaning the nuances of the car, and being the first German car I've owned (or really been exposed to), I'm looking forward to it all. First few ideas for the car is the Smart Top and HIDs.

By the by, is there anyway to get rid of the oxidation on headlights?

Welcome, Earn, to a great community. You will find that this forum will become a friend and you can learn much from your fellow enthusiasts. There are a number of commercial lens cleaners on the market and all of them seem to work well when the directions are followed. However, there is one that I have used most effectively, and as soon as the wifey wakes up, I will ask her what she has done with my cleaner, look at the label to see what it is and respond again to your query. She borrowed it to clean something, and I don't know where she put it.

Earn, here is what I used to clean my headlight lens . . . . Meguiar's PlastX, which you should be able to find at any auto parts house. I think I bought mine at Advance Auto. It comes in a white plactic container in 10 fl oz size. I used a small soft buffer in a drill to do the initial cleaning and then wiped the residue off. I believe I did it twice to do a good job. After I cleaned the lens, I applied a polish to the lens to give it a clean shine. I suppose any polish would do. Good luck !

P.S. I recommend you put some painter's tape around the rim of your lens so you wont get cleaner etc. on your paint.
