Has any one experienced your spouse showing jealousy over your SLK?

My husband of 33 years (next week) sounds like he jealous about the car. He is not a car man, but he can talk about making maple syrup and the new technology involved in making it.
He told me this week more than once, "Honey, you are always talking about that car." Well, I can't help it that the car makes my heart go pitter-patter. I just love how I feel driving the car. I feel like me.

He did wash it for me yesterday afternoon and I made sure I helped. He gave me an "I can't believe she is doing that" when I washed the rims and when I was examining our wash job. He did a beautiful wash job, but I was just checking.
I have offered for him to drive the SLK, but he always refuses. He rides with me often. When we use our Lincoln MKX together he drives it most of the time.
I am thinking to myself, "Really? jealous over a car?"

Well, it is nice to know that I am not the only one who has a spouse that
is tired of hearing about the car.
In this house the story is, "When momma is happy, everyone is happy. Happy, happy,
happy..."
I can't wrap my head around why he wouldn't want to hear about the car.

I wouldn't say my husband is jealous, but he definitely would have had me not buy it. I say tough. He can't understand why I would want it, even though it has been a know fact for many years. When my son and I brought it home last year, he didn't talk to me for 2 weeks and was really angry. He's over it now and actually washes it all the time. Doesn't go in it often though. I look at it this way, at this stage of my life...if it brings me joy ( and it makes me feel like I'm in Seventh Heaven ) then that's all that counts. When I was picking up a friend today the guy at the guard gate said...."Cars' looking good today" ( Of course driving top down ). Can't understand why he didn't say that about the old lady driving it ?? LOL

Is it permissible for an, ahem....gentleman to add to this post?

My lovely wife really has no interest in cars but humours me wonderfully in my addiction! To the extent she encourages me to buy the cars I want and even gifts me money toward them and lends me any shortfall! Her view is that if I am happy, then she is pleased and happy too. I am very lucky. Sometimes I do wish that she was actually interested in cars but then I tell myself it would be very selfish of me to expect more. She does enjoy our regular drives out in the countryside and weekends away etc.

My son seems to have inherited the petrol head gene too, plus I have a sister in law who is car mad. So I'm not completely on my own!

My SLK is very special, but y wife is priceless ! :)

This is so funny! Why, I had NO interest in cars. My husband would talk all the time about them. When I got this car last week, I can't stop talking and thinking about it. I am searching on the internet about the upgrades to do. I have always had a belief that a car is to get you from point A to point B. Now, I am talking about keeping it garaged in the winter. I get upset if he doesn't watch what is on the road and hits a pot hole. UGH...I have become a monster! My husband...he laughs and says it is nice to see a new side of me.

I don't think he is jealous....yet :)

There is definitly a new side of me too. My issue might also stem from the fact that also dropped over 60lbs. (Well, I knew I had to fit into my new car prior to purchasing an SLK).
My husband has been very supportive in my accomplishment. My car has been my reward for my success just as a couple of educational related goals have been accomplished too.
Just as mustbedreaming said,"I look at it this way, at this stage of my life...if it brings me joy ( and it makes me feel like I'm in Seventh Heaven ) then that's all that counts."
Amen

My wife is just plain annoyed when it comes to my SLK. She just can't understand why I spend so much money on my car and Mercedes-Benz accessories. She can't comprehend why I have to vacuum the car out after I've driven it or why I have to wash it at least once a week. I have asked my wife several times if she would like to drive my SLK but she bluntly refuses every time. She never wants to ride in my car as I don't allow food or beverages at any time. My wife endlessly drinks water so this is nothing less than problematic.

My wife owns a BMW but I never want to ride in her car because it's always messy. I feel compelled to thoroughly clean my wife's car if we ever go anywhere and as you can imagine that's quite a lengthy process so we don't drive in her car very often.

The motorcycle's a 'no go' as the one and only time my wife rode on it with me was so disastrous that we never even made it out of the neighborhood.

Our solution? I own a 2010 maroon RAV4 as well. Anyone is free to eat, drink, and be merry in the Toyota so that's the car of choice.

I never really had an interest in cars per se. But always wanted a Red Benz convertible (560SL) and I do like the old classic Chevys, Caddys, etc. My husband shakes his head when I talk about my car. When I got it last year he wanted me to buy a car cover and leave it covered in the garage and only drive it once in a while...Yeah..right. That didn't happen, I drive it everywhere I go...except Walmart's parking lot. I'm glad all of us ladies feel the same about our babies.

60 lbs.! Good for you!

Driving Sweet Pea makes me feel younger, vibrant, and significant.

Kevin (hubby) isn't jealous of the car, just the guys that check me out while I'm driving lol. His primary complaint is my time on the forum, but he's slowly learning to live with it! :D

Having my SLK is like...an anti-depressant!

The jealousy may be of the car or may be of you as in: "its hers but I really want something like that" but more likely: "is my wife looking too hot in that car?" Remember, in men priude is is just one glance away from jealousy.

Super Wifey was insanely jealous about the SLK.....so I bought her a new ML with all the gadgets. Since that time having possession of her own SLK key seems to be enough.

I've also convinced her that I had to be the one driving the SLK because men in town would make fun of me and "diminish my vitality".......yep, never thought it would work but....hook, line, and sinker! Everybody is happy, happy, happy!

It is funny how the right car can have an effect on a person. The SLK I keep up and post about is definitely hers. She gets mad when I drive it or ask to drive it. She never gave a [email protected] about her cars before this one. Her mini-van is full of garbage i.e. fast food bags and drinks. She never washed it or cleaned it out. I was always ridiculed for washing and waxing my Hemi Charger and my rules for no food or drink inside. After she got the SLK she takes it to the car wash weekly and loves that I take the time to wax and polish it for her. She is really possessive and loves to drive it.

I agree, if she is happy I am happy :D
