Today was American Hero's Day at the Strawberry Festival. All active, reserve, retired military, veterans, law enforcement and first responders were admitted free.
I saw many of our boys with prosthetic limbs and it broke my heart. Two guys stood out though and came to our booth to get berries, etc. They were both in large wheelchairs and were sadly disfigured and disabled in Afghanistan, but had such positive mannerisms by laughing and carrying on.
Everything they were buying was for someone else either a nurse or a caregiver at the VA Hospital in Tampa. After I bagged the items I went around the counter and gave it to them and thanked them for serving. The guys tried to pay and the only thing I was able to do was shake my head no. Such a small token of appreciation for what these heroes gave up for us.
I know these two servicemen will pay it forward. :usa::usa:
