As my dad would say, "You have certainly gone and done it this time . . ." Made the deal on the Designo-Orange '00 SLK230 and will get to Fremont early in the week to pick it up. This is my first MB and first drop-top so looking forward to a long term relationship. Would appreciate any advice on "pre-flight" inspection -- will certainly check all fluid levels, not sure about tire pressure or any other good things to check out before I head back up the coast to Eureka (might run HWY 1 if the weather is good). What should I "listen for" as I drive? I have good mechanic's ears . . . I hear a car well and often diagnose an upcoming problem from a change in sound. The car has a good service record with MB in SF and only 61K so I expect it to be pretty much perfect (one owner). I did verify that the oil has been changed (with Synthetic) and I know to run premium in it (I always run Chevron in my cars if they have fuel injectors . . . is there a better gas for the SLK?). Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated . . . it will be about a 300 mile drive.
