I have been on / off this forum for a number of years, but never provided an introduction so here it is.

Obsidian black 2005 SLK 350 with red interior, Manual 6 speed transmission, purchased new in November 2004. HK stereo, Heated seats, Xenon lights, most options except wheels/tires/AMG stuff.
I had the original wheels powder coated black. Wife said no to red. Said I wasn't 25 years old any more. Got black centers off EBay. Looks cool.
Current miles: 233,000+ miles - commute is 42 miles per day each way, or 84 miles a day.
Still has original clutch, yes after 233,000 miles. I was taught how to shift a manual many years ago, and told that I always speed shift the car by the guys at work.

What broke. Most everything except engine, sort of. 3rd gear syncros went out of the transmission within the first 5000 miles, so complete transmission was replaced. AC complete swap out at 75K miles (I paid for 100K warranty so lots covered under warranty). Valves were done on one side as the MB tech said they were wrong (warranty again) Fuel pump went out at the top of the skyway bridge, means you get lots of help FAST. Crank position sensor, Idler pulley, Battery cable ends corroded off, ABS computer, coil packs (200,000 miles on original ones), main center speaker (need another one of those now too) Lots of other miscellaneous other things. Replaced the tumble valve on the intake manifold was the last fix I did. Do lots of work myself now.

What wore out.
Drivers seat has worn out at one seam, and seat heater no longer works. Steering wheel has worn a hole in it so covered with a steering wheel cover. Drivers door arm rest has a hole, and handle leather is coming off. Am on my second shift knob, and need a new one.

Finally got tires to not feather on the edges. Michelin Pilot Sports. Get 15-17K on the back and twice that on the front tires. Pain to get new back tires with each oil change.

AND the car does do 150 mph (but not for some time as miles are getting up there)

Love the car. Working on new seats/door panels on ebay. Since only seats and door panels are red, I can pretty much get any color.

Wow 2009 & only 1 post & so many miles on your SLK. You have missed out on a lot of great fun not to mention you're from Florida. We hope you join the Florida group for one of their meets! Great introduction!

I think that's the coolest introduction I've read yet, very interesting to hear about what you've done/had done/had to do to the car. It has obviously been loyal to its owner.

I bought a used 05 350 with about 86k. My family doesn't know it but the entire affair was a gamble to begin with. I suppose if I squeeze 230k out of the car, as you have, it will have been a winning bet, and an enjoyable ride to boot. Time will tell... Welcome, I hope you enjoy this forum as much as I have...
