Hey guys,

My name is Christy Crispino, I own a 2007 SLK350 that I picked up from a family who let it set for 2 years while their kid was in college. Of course we have some gasket dry rotting issues that I have changed out and a couple of other minor plugs in the back of the motor that were like 3.00 which was causing a minor drip of oil on my exhaust. Thankfully it was not the heads.

Anyway, I am now changing out the actuator off the windshield for the hard top. I have it removed and hanging down by the hydraulic lines and I am wondering what the best way to remove those line are as it appears to be crimped. I am sending it out to have it rebuilt and was wondering if I am going to need to buy a tool to reinstall it or is there away to separate the lines without replacing the ends? OR do i need to remove them from the pump and send the whole thing out for the rebuild?

Definitely don't try to disconnect the lines on the cylinder end. If you want to send it off you'll have to disconnect at the pump end and remove the cylinder with the lines still attached. They means removing the trunk linings and the headliner.

If you are DIY person you can replace the seals. You can buy the seals as a kit on Ebay. There are several poast on this form as to how to do the replacement. Our NC/SC SLK owners group had a meet where we did several cars one Saturday morning. It was not that hard.
