Intro & Looking for an '07 SLK-55

Hello everyone.

Hopefully I will be joining your ranks soon. I live in SF. I am actively searching for an '07 slk-55. hopefully local or within a reasonably drivable distance. I have been searching through online sources like autotrader.com and I stopped by rab motors in san rafael today to introduce myself. fwiw, rab just sold their certified black '07 slk-55.

Anyway, about me... (i will just provide the level of detail that ppl usually provide on the car forum that i am currently on) I live in SF. i am single, have no children, and 33 yrs old (almost 34, but that doesn't matter.)

i currently have a '05 STi w/ 28,xxx miles and bought it on 11/1/04. while it is fast and fun, i think i am outgrowing the looks and unwanted police attention that the STi always seems to get in cali these days.

i just wanted to introduce myself and maybe get your ideas on resources to find an slk-55.

thanks in advance, and hopefully i will be joining your ranks soon. i will definitely be an active member here.

Good luck on your hunt. To me, the 05 - 07's are the best looking 55 (wheels & brakes).
:)I agree with Tom, but that 2009 SLK 55 is a bad boy. Esqdg, only real advantage with a 2007 SLK 55 are the paddle shifters, some updated software, and the remaining factory warranty that comes with a higher cost over 2005 and 2006. Keep your options open for the right 2006 SLK 55.

thanks guys. i know the other issue with the 07's is that about 1/2 the usual amount were imported into the US. I guess I am a sucker for a challenge.

I must not understand how these forums work. let me explain.....

on the forum for the car i currently have.... the NORTHERN CALIFORNIA board is for people who actually live in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. so in my mind, the threads aren't duplicate as it is saying hi to NORTHERN CALIFORNIANS and asking NORTHERN CALIFORNIANS if they have any resources to find/buy an slk55 isn't the same as the other post.

that other post that you artfully attached there happens to be in an amg forum. thus i would expect an international audience. further, it was asking what ppl thought of their slk55 and about 07's in particular.

out of the people who have answered so far... per their profiles, only 2 actually reside in cali, none in northern cali. can any of you name one car dealer in norcal without using google let alone help me with contacts in any of those dealerships? i do appreciate the welcome messages though.

in sum:

this thread = saying hi to norcal and asking if they have local resources/contacts

the amg thread = saying hi to the international forum, asking how ppl like their slk55, and what they thought generally of the 07's. later it progressed to differences b/w 07 slk55's and other model years of the slk55.

in my mind, they are not related. pls correct me if i am wrong.

Most of us read most of the threads....

So unless you have really specific requests, we'll probably see whatever you post wherever you post it.

No harm, no foul.

i apologize if my answer above seemed harsh. it was not intended to be.

Like DJ said, no problem, I probably should have put a :) at the end of mine to tone it down.

Hi esqdg,

I am "Motzkoman" on this forum and am one of the overall coordinators of the Northern CA SLK Enthusiasts. I apologize that I was away from the forum a while, vacationing out of state and not regularly monitoring the forum. While we do have a lot of regular participants in NoCal...there are not that many that frequent the board, although I am encouraging it to get more interaction.

We do have participants that time to time have cars available, but I am not aware of any with SLK55's currently for sale. There are several dealers in the area that can be checked.

If you want to contact me directly, you can "pm" me or just email [email protected].

We would love for you to find an SLK and join us...check out our past events in QuickTime's here:

thanks. i still cant get this stupid grin off of my face. :)

i looked into the smarttop module. my current key fob thingee will open and close the top if you hold certain buttons. i guess this one is different. what are the advantages/disadvantages?

the power of the engine is pretty mind numbing. the airscarf is completely worth whatever the cost of that option was.
