Lets see now... I have 5 cars with full coverage.

I have a 16 year old that just got his license.

I have an 18 year old that just got rear ended last night in his Honda. (All ok, not his fault.)

Any ideas what my rates are gonna do??? I know...up up and away!

Why is it when you pay all that money for insurance, (and a bonehead with insurance rear ends you and gets 2 tickets because it is his fault), your rates still get raised? :soap: What's wrong with this system?

Just makes no sense to me.

Any other parents of teenagers out there got any sympathy pains for me???LOL

On the bright side...No one got hurt. He had insurance. He got ticketed for failure to control speed and no license with him.

Now I hope his insurance, "a very progressive insurance company", does the right thing and fixes our car with no hassels to us.

Their making was very funny, now you have to pay for them. Everybody told me before, but I did not recognize it. Mine are 23 and 19 now.

They have to get their money somewhere and you know it's not coming out of their (insurance co.) pockets. I've always paid high insurance for my cars but recently it has gone down significantly. I feel your pain.

Are you certain?

You're certain your rates are going to increase due to this accident? I know people have always complained about possible rate increases after an accident, but I have yet to actually see anyone's rates increase due to an accident they were not at fault on. Sucks regardless, glad to hear your boy wasn't hurt.

Is this the car you just got done doing all the work to?

My 17 year old daughter totalled her Audi TT last August after she flipped it 3 times. (Thank God she came out without a scratch). Since my insurance company has first accident forgiveness, my rates didn't go up.

However, my 16 year old son got his license in Dec. Thankfully he has good grades and we got a significant discount on adding him to the policy. However, it still added around $2,400 annually to the policy.

About a month ago he swerved to avoid a deer and banged up the car. We're going to pay for the repairs out of pocket versus going through insurance. I don't want my rates skyrocketing for the next 8 years. As it is NY rates are real high to begin with. We have 4 cars but only 2 have collision and comprehensive on them. The SLK and a 2002 Camaro SS. The 2 other cars are Honda Acccords.

Good news all.

The guy from that "very progressive ins company" called and said they are not sure the other guy's insurance was in force. (he had an up to date policy card he gave the policeman!)

They said to call my insurance company to have the car fixed. UGGGG

I called my Allstate agent and he said since I had full coverage, they would fix my car, NOT raise my rates!!!:rb and my insurance agent would chase them down to get the money!:bannana:

He said I have nothing to worry about! WooHoo!!!!

Allstate Rocks Y)

Thanks for all your support guys!

That IS great news Brent! I hope USAA is as supportive should the situation ever present itself.

Insurance as a whole sucks anyway...you're betting something happens and they're betting otherwise...they normally win, aye?

Consider getting a divorce and giving the wife custody. Paying alimony and child support might be less than your insurance bills.:biglaugh:

Man, I feel out of place when everyone has kids that are barely younger than me... :)

Anyway, Allstate is a good company, I've been quoting various carriers so I have an idea of what the SLK will cost when it comes this summer and I think Allstate's is pretty competitive (I have Allstate now).

What kind of rates are people getting on their AMG's? I think I'm going to be just over 200/month for full coverage, full tort, and their nifty "New Car Replacement" plan.

Wow! I found out a lot about another insurance company wink, wink, nod, nod...

It is all hear say and I am not saying it is true or not...but the first 2 paragraghs are exactly what has happened to me so far today!

They tell you they have a ten day Investigation into weather or not their person is insured. (What they are really doing is waiting 10 days for the police report to come out.)

In the meantime they tell you to go thru your insurance company to get your car fixed if you do not want to wait the ten days. If the investigation does turn out that they do have coverage, they will pay your insurance company back. (What they don't tell you is that they negotiate what they have to pay back and that way they do not have to pay as much.) Also you have to pay your own deductable in the mean time and it takes a very long time to get that back from them.

Once the police report is out, they look for details that can be confusing and call the victims on recorded calls to get discrepancies. (Remember, it has been 10 days since the accident.) Once discrepancies are found they have a case against you so they do not have to pay you.

I look forward to those calls!!!! I'm ready!

I thought it was curious today how the their guy recorded the basic info of the call and then he said he was ending the recorded portion of the call, only then telling me his guy was under investigation and to go to my own insurance if I did not want to wait 10 days for the investigation to be over.

I have an estimate planned with my insurance adjuster at noon tomorrow and 4pm with the other guy. We will see how their estimate stacks up against my insurance estimate.

I will keep you updated on the progressiveness of this event.

Brent,

I have 2 kids and know the insurance rates are quite high. My daughter (now 22) hit someone and left the scence when she was 16 (hit-and-run, that was a big mess: juvenile court, probation, civil lawsuit, etc.) and my son hit our own car (BMW against Honda civic) while backing out when he was 17 (now 20 years old). their rates have come down significantly once they had 3 years of driving history.

We have Allstate and the insurance agent is my neighbor across the street. I've tried pricing his rates against others like Mercury, 21st century, etc., and they couldn't beat the rate my neighbor gave me.

I was rearended before, and the AAA car insurance from the other party ws just playing games. I had the E300 fixed through Allstate and the deductible was reimbursed later (12 months later) after Allstate went through an adjudication process against AAA.

HA...I feel out of place sometimes NOT having kids @ 41. But only for about as long as it takes to remind myself of all the cool things we've got to experience the last 20+ years. No regrets!! :tu:

sorry...:eek:fftopic:
