Hello,

I have a SLK55 R171 and was wondering if the R230 SL65 wheels are bolt on install ?

I like the look of these and has anyone successfully installed them ?

Be aware that the R230 uses M14 bolts instead of M12 on the R171.
You will need special bolts with M12 thread and a head with R14 radius to fit them in a safe manner.

Going to go for 18" 030 wheels and use spacers to get the look I am aiming for.

Got the quote for the 19" wheels from the dealership which is $6,600 for 4 wheels which is a huge amount. Will see other sources for significantly less prices.

I’m new to the forum and realize I’m resurrecting an old thread, but I was hoping someone could give me some insight about installing SL65 wheels on an SLK55. I’m close to purchasing an SLK55 and love the look of the 19” SL65 wheels on some of the cars I’ve seen on this forum and elsewhere. It just so happens that a set of those SL65 wheels is for sale about 30 minutes from my house, and I don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to grab them if they’re going to work. Specifically, I’m looking for help with the following:

1. Are the SL65 wheels a direct fit?
2. Will I need anything additional like new bolts, hub centric rings, etc.?
3. What about tire sizes for front and rear? Will the factory SL65 tire sizes work, or will I need to get new rubber?
Now a couple questions specifically for those who are running those wheels...
4. Any issues with rubbing?
5. General impressions from driving on the wheels? I’m curious to see if/how much they will change the driving dynamics.

Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide.

Welcome to SLKWorld.com: The #1 Mercedes-Benz SLK Forum from Florida!

First please update your location and vehicle (Put Looking!)(year?: 1996-2018, model?: 32, 43, 200, 230, 250, 280, 300, 320, 350, 55) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information if you haven’t. This takes about 30 seconds to do.

Follow exactly to update: ‘Usercp’ at the top of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’. Info in your garage does not update your profile.

Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
