You can't keep it on the ground, the shocks are supporting the vehicle!

R170 is not coil-over suspension! Spring takes weight of car!


Shock could "theoreticaly" be removed with weight on the wheel, but probably 10x more difficult than jacking up and removing the wheel for access.


I think, but not having an R170 am not sure, that you need to remove the top shock mount with suspension compressed.

Also without jacking up the vehicle I can'T figure out how can you get the necessary room to do the work ?
