(have a funny feeling its just the external air temp sensor)

Yes, it does look like the Temp probe, which controls lots of function in the car I believe...?


Enclosed are a few pictures of My 2010 R171 (slightly different bumper)
And looking up at the back of the N/S headlight & fog light, when the N/S wheel arch liner is removed: (PM Me with a email address, if You want better res pictures)
Red arrow is the Temp' Prob - Just pushes into place:
