On my daily perusal of autotrader SLK55 listings I see this one - it's a 2005 with about 26000 miles:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=01702&endYear=2007&modelCode1=SLK55AMG&sortBy=derivedpriceASC&showcaseOwnerId=100024098&startYear=2005&makeCode1=MB&firstRecord=26&sellerTypes=b&searchRadius=0&mmt=[MB[SLK55AMG[]][]]&listingId=350346246&listingIndex=21&Log=0

(Hope link works)

Owner says "WIFE SAYS TIME FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT" but given he's aking $49500 for it methinks he really wants to keep it.

Did the seller do no research on current pricing before listing his car?

cheers

I think I read that, Used 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG were collector items. LOL :hb: :hb: Like you guys said, she said "yes I will sell it Honey", "I will put it on the market today" :tu:. But don't start shopping for the new car just yet. :tazz: :tazz:

It's catching

Here's another that I think is far far too optimistic in his asking price although not as far off as the original inspiration for this thread

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=01702&endYear=2007&modelCode1=SLK55AMG&showcaseOwnerId=100024098&startYear=2005&makeCode1=MB&sellerTypes=b&searchRadius=0&mmt=[MB[SLK55AMG[]][]]&listingId=350955691&listingIndex=21&Log=0

It's got about 15000 miles, which averages to about 2000 or less per year. I don't know about you guys and gals, but very low mileage suggests that the car may have sat unused for long periods and that's not good for any car either.

Then there's this one. Is that a matt gray paint job or wrap? Does anyone want to pull the datacard and see what color it was originally? I personally think shiny looks better on SLKs.

Also he says, paraphrasing "light tap in the rear". Given the complexity of the folding top I'd want to see lots of documentation of the damage and repairs before touching that one.

cheers

I paid 38k for a 2007 SLK55 with P30 pack and 26.6k miles 19 months ago.

(Granted, the KBB value for something like mine was in the mid 40k range because of the P30 pack. Used car dealership didn't know how much the P30 affected the value)

In your case, I'd keep looking. Didn't the '05s come with the soft coating on the dash that peeled with age?
