So last night i raced my mate and got ripped by about a car and a half. he drives a HSV 375kw at the crank.

Though i would have had him considering that thing is a boat with wheels :,(....

Anyone race a HSV here in Aus and win? BTW my car is stock except x-pipe and secondary cat removal.

Wonder if ill have a chance against him once the MBH long tube headers and a tune is done?

Also doing a Calder park run in March if any Melbourne guys/girls want to come along :).

Based on what you said, with you only having 355 hp and 377 torque :surprise:, with that package he'd have almost 498 lb torque and 500 hp, he would have no problem taking you :frown:. (BTW, I don't know anything other than what Mr Google tells me so I may just be blowing smoke here ;) )

Gotta pick your battles buddy

Have no idea about what is going on here, but google says that HSV stands for Herpes simplex virus.
Please treat yourself with a daily dose of acyclovir and visit a doctor if you have pain during urination.
And please consider the use of protection, such as condoms.

In all seriousness I had no idea these cars exist.
But do not worry.
You got beaten by a vehicle named after a disease. You win.

They're basically prehistoric Australian GM cars fitted with the powertrain from a Chevrolet Corvette. So they're pretty quick. From memory they do a saloon and a pickup (Ute). Both are VERY quick in a straight line.

The HSV's here are like the c63 ;) but local ... I think i did OK being stock, i reckon ill re-run him after some upgrades
:D

HAHA you guys are a laugh - i got round two coming with him in feb at our local quarter mile track, ill have mbh headers by then and hopefully can keep up with him :D

Hsv

The Holden was being sold here in the States for a while as the Pontiac GTO. I did not remember seeing one with more than 400hp rated. But, I am not sure what offerings are available in OZ. Even so, the small block GM is really easy to hotrod and get more output from. I have a co-worker with a really nice one who claims to be putting out well over 425hp at the wheels. But, they are still pig heavy. I have raced them before at the auto-x and was beating them. I have seen them run 1/4 miles but did not recall seeing one that was particularly fast (see previous statement about hotrodding).

In my opinion, if you get the chance to race the HSV again in the future, insist on running from a dead stop instead of a rolling start. Your lighter weight and the good launch one normally gets from the SLK should put you in the lead off the line. After that all you need do is monitor his progress and be sure to let off "BEFORE" he is allowed to pass you (assuming he is able to do so, lol) and then ask politely if he wants to run again.
>:D

If he is still beating you, at least ask what power adders he has onboard. i.e. NOS, ECU retune, etc. We had one at the most recent charity drags last year with a supercharger installed, but his tune was off and he never really got it together for a good run. A similar Camero SS (also on the Holden chassis, I think) was putting out close to 600hp with a blower and still had a 150 shot of NOS to trigger when desired. It was very fast. It also broke its tranny.

A stock Camero SS at the same event running Micky Thompson drag radials beat my wife in the SLK by about one car length but she let off the throttle early and was slow off the line. It was very close. My times that same day were quicker but I never got to run that particular car. They are not slow. he was running within 2/10ths of me all day. Anyone know if the newer Chevy SS is also on the Holden chassis? I was guessing it was.

its horses for courses. 375kw, sounds like its 2015 model with a blower. Now if you had r172(2013+) 55amg stock, 310kw you would shake him up.
I suggest following Mr Banks mods, then you are going to smoke him:grin:
