I will keep on searching, But the ECU is still on the other side of the world.
So meanwhile I´m taking care of the other things that has to be done on Sleepy.
Not much left now so yesterday I spent the day going through the Siren and she is almost ready for spring now, Only thing left is change oil and filter.
The Siren was my project 2020 that ended up with me rebuilding a M112.946 auto to a M112.947 manuell.
She is still running nice and I think she looks great.

So I will have at least 1 SLK320 to the car exhibition in May but I really would like to have them both there.
This is from 2022 when we where 48 SLK´s at the same place and today we already have more then 50 for 2023.

Hi all.
Now I´m almost done with the last things to get The Siren ready for the summer, Just repainting the seats which I hope I could do this weekend.
So I´m back at solving the issues with Sleepy.
The ECU should be here next week. Correct MB number, Correct Bosch number and correct H/W number, And it´s from a SLK 320 from the same year.
And new genuine Bosch Lamdas as recommended earlier in this thread (No cheap aftermarket parts) should also be here next week.

What can I do in testing to make sure that I don´t fubar this ECU?

Scan the car with ECU unplugged as suggested in post #160 and post the results?
Scan the car with the new lambdas connected or unconnected with the old ECU?

I´m afraid to resolder (I´m not doing it myself) the eeprom in the new ECU without checking that everything else seems to be fine.

Please help me.

Stay safe and take care.

Hi all great guys.
My life isn´t working as it should, It has always been bad, but since summer 2021 it has been a nightmare and 2023 haven´t started any better.
I´m still up every night because of nightmares and flashbacks, and that cause me to get unfocused and tired during daytime.
But I´m struggling on 1 day at the time.

I spend a couple of hours every night reading threads here but most of the time I´m outside walking.
A good day I can get something done but have forgot or missed a lot of great advises.

Last night I found this thread from 2021 that was resolved with the same symtoms that I have
That was a very interesting reading.

I have also been reading wiring diagrams and tested some things I was recommended a long time ago.

Status right now with Sleepy.

As suggested in post #160 to scan the car with the ECU compleatly unplugged did not work.
My C4 didn´t get any power from the OBD.

The black/green wire from K40 to ECU through the 20A fuse is working, The lightbulb light up nice and bright, Hot at all times as it should be if I read the wiring correctly.

With the ECU compleatly unplugged and ignition on the engine fan still go up to full speed.

New genuine Lambdas from Bosch and an used ECU should arrive in the next couple of days but I´m not sure of which alternative is best for me.

I really need your help.

Engine fan running full speed with ECU unplugged (or lack of 12v supply to ECU) is normal.

ECUs are beyond me!
Thanks for your reply and it´s same here @Australian , I can rebuild an engine and almost everything else in a car, But this is unknown territory for me.

Hi again.
My usual luck or stupidity got me stuck again.
I went to an online shop for Bosch lambdas, used my cars registration number and found one.
Then I double checked using the OEM number instead and got the exact same part.
So I ordered 2 of them.
The delivery was delayed a couple of times but today I finally got them, and they are the wrong part.
So I request for returning them is sent and search for correct ones has begun.

But some good news.
My ecu is in Sweden now and that´s is a funny story.
I found an ECU in US but the seller didn´t ship to Sweden, So a friend of mine in US bought it and sended it to me.
She could not remember the name of the part, so it was shipped as a personal gift labeled as a "SLK Thinking Thing":ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
It went through customs without any extra fee´s and shoud be here tomorrow.

And I wanted tinted rear window on The Siren so I did that last year with a close to an acceptable result but not good enough so my plan was to redo it this spring.
I don´t have the energy at the moment so recently I asked a company that are specialized in that about an estimate, And I was surpriced by the answer.
It turned out that a SLK I scanned and repaired last year for free to a former collegue of mine was owned by he´s sister-in-law (Her daily driver) and her husband is one of the owners of that company.
So both The Siren and Sleepy are getting tinted rear windows done by professional guys with high end material to a very nice price.

All I have to do is drive the cars to them.. Back to that the fact that Sleepy is Sleepy.

Stay safe and take care

What does EPC say?

For mine, the Upstreams are different p/n's whilst the Downstreams are the same as each other 🤷‍♂️
Here's mine for example - note. this does not mean that yours are the same p/n as mine :p

O2 Right Upstream - A 001 540 06 17
O2 Left Downstream - A 001 540 60 17

Hi and thanks for your reply.
Same as mine..
I used A 001 540 60 17 as a referens because that was what EPC told me but I got the wrong part anyway
I will return these and make a new order and hope that I get what I want and need.

@Petri68 Where is that SLK meetup and is there some place to signup? Is it by invitation only?
You need to review their profile (click on their avatar) for where they live. Unless you're going to fly from PA to Sweden :ROFLMAO:

Look here for suitable locales

I got a question about this SLK meeetup, and I will try to explain, A little bit off topic but still SLK-related.

It´s on the grounds outside Tjolöholms castle in Sweden, Outside of Gothenburg
Different car clubs can request a number of spaces, Last year we where 48 cars in our requested 50 places.
I think we had all SLK´s exept SLK32
We are a FB group and one of us is gathering information from us others about who is interrested and what car we have and he then have contact with them.
It´s free for the car, driver and one passenger.
2022 I think it was about 1400 cars there and Mazda MX5 have always been the biggest group, but last year when we showed up for the first time we beat them and was the biggest group attending.
This year we already have more then 50 cars interested, and I think we also got the missing SLK32 this time.
It is a really nice day to meet and talk and change information/tips/trixs between us IRL instead of online.
I don´t want to miss this day.

Hi All.
Have been busy with a lot of things but soon I can continune with my car.
The company accepted my return of the lambdas because I had done everything right.
I searched with my licens plate, Got the correct car in the menu, Clicked at "Bosch" and got a suggestion.
Cleared it all out and searched with the MB number instead, Clicked at "Bosch" and got to the same suggestion.
The problem was that the part didn´t fit my car, It was the wrong part.

So today those one´s was sent back, and I will try again to make a new order and take more time and make sure that it is the correct part this time.
Maybe go to some other site and verify the Bosch number..

My ECU is in Sweden since the beginning of last week, but not delivered to me yet.
But I did find a company that are willing to swap the Eprom for me.
They repair Teslas and have a very good reputation in repairing car electronics, PCB´s and so on.
It will cost me about 150 eur in work and freight but it´s worth that if Sleepy wakes up again.

But Is there anything that I can do to test the new ecu before shipping it to them?
I don´t want to spend that money and later find out that the part I sent them was defective or had other issues that I could have found out before.

Stay safe and take care.

Sounds like things are coming together Petri.
Can the electronics company test the ecu before doing any other work - I would hope so.
No, I don´t think so that´s why I´m asking you guys about what I can do. before sending it to them, But first I have to get the part delivered.

They have a very good reputation specialized in car electronics, but they mention that they work with Tesla, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer and Cadillac.
All US-Cars.
They have the equipment and skills to do the work, But I don´t think that they can test it.

Yes, Things looks like they are comming toghether and my goal is still MOT i April and the Classic car show in May.

Thanks for your reply

Hi.
Can I take some of your time @Dave2302.
I recivied my new ECU today, and when I opened it up the pcb looks really nice and clean.

The lambdas is returned to the company and I have ordered new ones.
First time I checked with my licence plate number, car modell, and then I checked again with the MB OEM number, And still got the wrong parts.
Now I have placed a new order and made the same checks but also made a search between Bosch and MB numbers so this time it should be right.
I didn´t think of that it shoud need a tripple check to get the right part

But my question is, Can I test the new ECU in any way so that I know that it is a working ECU that I´m sending away for Eprom swap?

Stay safe and take care

I can't answer the question about testing the ECU but you can obtain bosch part numbers here: Oxygen Sensors - Engine Management - Bosch Auto Parts - Liferay DXP (but keep in mind their cross-reference data may be wrong as well).
Thanks @efair
I have ordered new Lambdas and when I checked your link I got the same Bosch number that I have ordered this time.
Now I have checked 4 different ways and they all show the same thing, So this time it has to be right.
Now I just have to wait for delivery.
What have I been up to lately, exept keeping my nose above the water?

Brakes are done and if the temperature goes above 0 Celsius today I will put her wheels back on and put the interior back in place.
I have read the thread "No crank" a couple of times and tested all those great tips with the old and with the replacament ECU.
K40 checks out fine.
I scanned the car with the replacement ECU and it seems fine.
So the replacement ecu will be sent away on Monday for a Eprom swap.

Then I have been working a little bit with The Siren, My other SLK320, Repainted the seats in 2 tones, same as the dashboard. Black and the center part in 211A.
Looks really good.
I have also made her roadlegal with insurance/taxes/mot and so on, All I have to do now is to wait for the roads to get ice-free to get her out because I don´t have wintertires on her.
Then I will give her a complete service. I already have oil and filters and so on waiting, And both will get a tinted rear window done by pro´s, Not by me.

It look´s promising

But is there anything else I could check before I send the ECU away?

Stay safe and take care.

If you are having the rear windows tinted do be aware that access is difficult and, if you have heated seats, the fitters must not kneel on them or the elements are very likely to be damaged.
Yes and thanks for you reaply, The Siren don´t have heated seats but Sleepy has., No knee is allowed on the seats.
I will set the cars up for them and stop the topdown procedure in a suitable position and remove the batterycable.
Support the roof and let them work.
I have done this on The Siren but my material and my skills was limited to only get an almost acceptable result.
Now both cars will get this done with highend material and by pro´s.
The Siren is ready and I just have to get Sleepy to wake up so that I can drive them there, It´s only 1 km away from me.
My goal is still MOT for Sleepy in the beginning of April to get her running/road legal and the classic motor exhibition in May.
