Hi, So a used ECU with the correct partnumber and then find someone that can clone it is the best way for me to go?
I will ask the company that gave me the estimate earlier if they can do it.

After that or meanwhile my list of things to do is rather short now.
Put the interior back together after cleaning up and repaint, only the lower dash och trimpanel over the IC left to install.
Replace the brakefluid, Have already renovated, repainted the calipers and put in new disks, pads and brakelines.
Put the trunk/boot back together, the jammed lock and handle is fixed and only needs to be back in place.
Buy new lambdasensors and install them.
Find and buy left foglight since the old one is working but have a correded reflector.

I think that is all..

Stay safe and take care.

my understanding of "virginized" means "reset to factory values"
No, Virgin only un locks the ECU so it can be remarried to another car as if it was brand new !!

It only involves changing one byte in the Eeprom File.

Hi Dave.
I found a ECU in Germany with the correct partnumber.
If I buy that one, Can I send both to you and pay you for the cloning and shipping?
I need to find someone that I trust to do this, And I trust you.

Hi all.
I´m trying to find a new ECU and I think that I have found it, But it needs to be cloned, But I don´t have the equipment or the knowledge about how to do it.
And most of all, I have already messed up once with the ECU when I reconnected the lambdas and will not try anything myself with that part again.
The rest of the car with the short "Todo" list is no problems.

So can anyone help me find an expert that can help me with this?

Stayb safe and take care.

You probably already know it but a working ECU+Ignition Switch+Key (all from the same donor car) is also an option.
Yes, Key/Das/Ecu, But I can´t find that.
If I find that It´s easy to move over the keyblade and put her back together.

Stay safe and take care.. I still have 53 days to the MOT.

Hi @Rofa
I have contacted the first one earlier and they redirected me to a company in Sweden.
And that company told me that they think that they have a 65-70% chans to repair my unit, or plan B was the clone.
But they wanted about 700 euro to try repairing first before plan B.
I can´t afford that at the moment.

They second one, I can´t read German so that was not easy for me to search on that forum.

But thank you for your assistans.

Hi.
I still haven´t slept one full night since the fire i May 2021, I´m out walking a couple of hours every night because of nightmares and I´m affraid to stay inside when it´s dark.

But I´m almost done with my list of things to fix on Sleepy.
Brakefluid and trunk/boot should be done today, It´s just assembly left.

A used ECU is with the correct partnumber, H/W revision and so on is on it´s way and should be here in about a week or so.

I have messed this up before and will not do any another attempt myself.
Spending time at night reading I have fuond out that there is several guys out here that can solve this rather easily.

And I´m asking for help.

New ecu need to be made virgin, special tools are needed.
Yes, To get the ECU working it needs some work, and I don´t have the knowledge or equipment about how to do it.
Virgin and initial startup, Cloning, resoldering eprom .. I get more confused every day but I want this car out on the road again.
I really need this.

Thanks for you reply, did not help me at the moment but I really appriciate that you took the time the read and respond.

send the new ecu to a specialist and they can do the job for you.
if the old ecu can be read they can clone the new one.
Yes, I will not try anything myself again with the ECU, But at the same time I can´t find anyone that can do it or are willing to do it
I have to continue to search

I've quoted the relevant posts for your perusal. My advice from before still stands, especially post #151.

I mean, sure, I can clone it for him, just that the international shipping is likely going to be way more than paying some local guy to do it.

Right now I think the fastest way is to just swap the ST 95p08 eeprom from bad ECU to replacement ECU. That will start the car, but will need coding after. But just the eeprom is swap is enough. So if Petri can unsolder and resolder the eeprom, that's 95% of the work done.
You dont need to find a local guy with the knowledge. All you need is a guy with the required tools and you tell him exactly what to do.

Phone repair shops are ideal. Show up with both ECU, point out the eeprom and tell him to swap the eeproms over. Pay him $40 or whatever local equivalent, then go home.

5% is recoding the ECU for your car options, you have the SDS.
This is the Eeprom Chip that needs swapped, be sure to put a tiny mark so you know which way around it goes back on the good ECU Board ;)

Doesn't even need to be a phone repair shop. Any electronic repair shop will do. If they have a soldering iron and/or hot air station, they at least have the basics of soldering down. TV repair shops (are they still around? lol), phone repair, computer repair, whatever. Even a mechanic shop that does their own repair, you'll have to call around and find out.

There must be someone who does that kind of repair. Sweden is a wealthy country, but I doubt it's so wealthy that the average citizen can afford to write off things like $1000 phones or laptops if they get damaged.

Ergo, there must be someone who can repair those.
