This DIY was borrowed from our good neighbors from Benzworld! A very kind Thank you to the user named Kobus for sharing his knowledge with other people!:rb
The Yaw Rate Sensor latest part # is A 003 542 23 18
The Lateral Movement Sensor latest part is # A 163 542 06 18

And the 2nd PDF explains principles of how ESP works =) Hope it'll be helpful some day for someone. ;)

Also, this is a very useful link explaining how different car functions/sensors work:

thanks for this thread chums

time to do the job, 60 mins, and that includes 15 mins of trying to glue the wood trim back onto the aluminium panel with contact adhesive ( not successful, but all the tabbed components sort of hold it in place, which is where I started from, unknowingly).

I couldn't for the life of me get the rear console past the handbrake, so i gave up, and just worked with it raised up enough out of the way to fiddle with the sensor. Also, my handbrake cover was a bit reticent, but yielded easily when i sprayed some silcone oil down there and gave it a few minutes. ( i wiped that off carefully before reassembly, I didn't want the cover flying off when applying the handbrake.)

Now to see if it fixes the intermittent BAS/ESP light which the new brake light switch did not.:nerd:
