I recently purchased a 2012 SLK 350 that I am having transported to my home sometime next week. The carrier is understandably adamant about disabling any alarms before transport. I looked at the online manual and found what appears to be a button to disable all theft or movement alarms, but not having an actual SLK in possession yet I can't accurately describe to the far-end salesmen on how do do this. Can any of you provide instructions I can pass on for how to do this. Pictures would help too.

Thanks,
Dave

The instructions below refer to the switch in the overhead console:

Deactivating

To switch off: unlock the vehicle with the key or KEYLESS-GO.
Tow-away protection is switched off automatically.

Remove the key from the ignition lock.

Press button

.
Indicator lamp

lights up briefly.

Lock the vehicle with the key or KEYLESS-GO.
Tow-away protection is deactivated.
Tow-away protection remains deactivated until:
  • the vehicle is unlocked again
  • a door is opened and closed again
  • the vehicle is locked again.
To prevent a false alarm, deactivate the tow-away protection if you lock your vehicle and it:
  • is being transported
  • is being loaded onto a ferry or car transporter, for example
  • is parked on a movable surface, e.g. in a split-level garage

Thanks for all the responses. I did see that information in the online manual, but did not have a clear image that I could use to convey the proper buttons and procedures to use. For some reason I cannot see any of the images provided by Windinmyhair. The images directory and file names are visible, but the links don't work.

@Windinmyhair can you repost pics as thumbnails please.
This sometimes fixes the issues that some members cannot view on certain platforms.

Thanks, but I don't think I need really the images now. I saved the image from the online manual and then blew the .jpg up to where I can clearly see that it's the rightmost button that does the function.
