The trunk will only close (latch) when I close it while pushing it forward pretty hard at the same time. You can tell when it's closed that the whole lid protrudes a little bit (rearward). Is there a simple adjustment so it closes without pushing it? The roof seems to open and close just fine, though I have to wonder if that is a strain on the system. Thanks!

Not sure if the vids may cover this.

Or the encyclopaedia.

(you may have to select 'open in new tab' it was playing up earlier).

The retainer the trunk lock goes into has a small degree of adjustment in it.
If I remember, you have to remove a small bit of trim and get access to two bolts.
Not a lot of adjustment, but might be enough.

Realigned the entire trunk would be a royal PITA.

Might be able to get a copy of the MB worksheet of one of our members if the above fails.
(I have one in mind)

You don’t say how long you’ve had the car or the problem.
Is this from something unknown coming lose or accident damage.
The cause is important.
Check all fasteners on trunk hinge and frame are secure. Inspect rear bumper for parking impact that may hide deformation.

I folks. I’m finally catching up to this problem (there are quite a few...). The trunk lid is not original I don’t think. And the car is new to me, so I can’t say what happened, but an accident is a distinct possibility. Thank you!
