If the car has been well maintained and isn't rusting out then high mileage isn't necessarily something to be scared of. Bought an Audi RS2 with 121k on the clock and ran for 5 years selling with over 160k on clock. Has a few repair and maintenance bills along the way but she's been my car of a lifetime to date.

I know of no reason why a well maintained engine in a 55 would not do over 200k miles.

Would say your biggest trouble would come with the rest of it (suspension, steering etc) - especially driving those 'hard miles' like one J.Banks.

Just purchased last week ($7K) in cash private sale in southern California: 2007 SLK55 309,000+ miles, flawless.
I, and many others I suspect, would be very interested to learn your detailed observations and experiences with a well used 55. It certainly sounds like good news for those of us who are approaching 100k miles with a little trepidation. Do you have a comprehensive service history with the vehicle? Anyway, good luck and hopefully another couple of hundred thousand miles of motoring with a grin!
