I have just joined due to trying to adjust the poor headlights on my r172. I'm from the east coast of Scotland and this is the 2nd SLK i have owned .
It is used as my main car in all weathers . I have only got the 1 issue with it , the awful dipped beams and the minor irritation of misplacing my service history.
I have called the local Franchise but still waiting for a call back.I have had a lot of cars over the years including BMW 5's Several SAABs and lots of Landy's and Rangerovers.
Each bought for a purpose . All good in their own way .
I work as a House Keeper on a Large Farm and also work as a Skipper on vessels under 12 passengers both jobs are good interesting work.
I hope to tour with the car over summer but usually have to take a Landy on holiday to tow our boat.So far I haven't found out how to tow a 2 1/2 ton boat behind the SLK.

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.

Hi and welcome to SLKWorld.com from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us and posting an intro! :)

We have quite a few members in the UK that like to meet up from time to time, although things tend to be a little quieter during the winter months. If you're interested in joining us sometime (we're doing a Scotland road trip in April), just keep an eye on the UK Region section, as we post meeting plans there! :tu:

There is a summary post that I maintain for our UK meets ( here ). Links to examples and pictures from last year's meets are available here. We're a friendly group, and always happy to welcome new members at any of our meets.

Finally, we also recently started plotting where our UK members are - check out the thread for that here: SLKWorld UK & Ireland Members and Meeting Points Map

Thank you
Dave

Welcome to the SLK site... just out of interest the "Mercedes enthusiast" magazine this month has a feature with all generations of the SLK... a good article worth a read.. available at Tesco's ... maybe you might se if you can get aftermarket headlights or as I did for my previous SLK230 maybe slightly upgraded light bulbs... I had about a 10% increase on my bulbs on the 230.. was noticeable.... I see you are in Arbroath.... my dad was either stationed there or my parents lived there in the sixties as he was in the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. He passed away a few months back. .. Oh well, good luck with the site, some excellent technical advise regards various issues.. have a look if you can get slightly uprated bulbs for your lights maybe. Kevin

Welcome from Aberdeenshire...just up the coast from you.

Likewise I use a Land Rover for towing as the SLK won't be that good with the horse box.

Problems towing boats with the SLK?
Well, there is a solution.

The SLK is a boat. (Photos courtesy of 55russamg).

Hi we would like to come but working on the Saturday (providing rescue cover for the Scaffs on the Tay Bridge). If ok we could join you for a run out on the Sunday?
Thanks for your interest. Obviously I wouldn't want my fellow scaffs endangered by your abscence on the Saturday, but you're welcome to join us for the Sunday run. It would help me if you put a post on the spring run thread expressing your intention to join us for the Sunday run (and meal if you want). I'll be posting details of both days runs a bit nearer the time, so keep an eye open for updates.
