Hi there! I'm new to this forum I had a 2004 SLK 230 and have recently bought a used 2012 SLK 250. I'm happy to meet you all. Hope everyone has had a great holiday season. F) I currently am experiencing a problem with the Comand navi system. The previous owner says they have no idea what happened. Everytime I press the navi button I get "Navi drive unavailable". Called dealer, they confirmed that the car does come with factory installed navi but previous owner claims it was working before they sold it :crying: So I'm trying to see if there is anything I can do before having to bring it into the dealers and paying for a diagnostic test that may not even fix the problem (ex. if the previous owner disabled or removed the drive). Thanks ahead of times.

Hi there, I have tried disconnecting the battery cables and left them off for an hour but to no fix. Although, I never resynced the windows, I don't know how. I did set the clock though :). Thanks for the suggestion. I have called the dealer and vin decoded, to confirm that the car did come with manufacture Navi.

Hi and welcome to SLKWorld.com from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us and posting an intro! :)

I'm wondering whether your car came with the Becker Map Pilot system, and perhaps somebody removed it before you bought it... I'm no expert, as I have the previous generation of SLK, but I think it's a module that plugs into a slot/bracket (that I think is in the glovebox) - so would be very easy to remove if someone wanted to. However, if you have Comand Nav, then that may be something entirely different, which might mean that you have a genuine (but very coincidental) fault.

I'm sure others with more knowledge than I have can offer better advice though...

Welcome from Wirral, England.

You've been fortunate enough to get some suggested solutions to your issue
but it's best to keep your help requests separate from your intro.
Not everyone reads intros.

The site search is pretty good, especially if you start your search
'SLKWorld.com' to get forum specific answers.

Good luck resolving the issue.

There is a regional for meets and local info:
U.S. California - Mercedes Benz SLK Forum

Maybe meeting up with another 2012 owner over coffee might shed some light.

Hi there, I am actually in SoCal. But if I ever head up north I would love to go for a drive with you all.
There is a SoCal SLK group that have meets & drives, I think they have an email list but they post their events here too under California events. They are a fun group, we have met them a few times when they came up north for a drive.
