I am in to my second Slk 230.
The first one I bought 15 years ago, a -99 slk230 had only run 9350km. Sold after 3 years and 120000km.
The second one a bought just two weeks ago. Same coulor and engine but one year newer than the last one.

I do have some problems with it. Cruise control dosen't work, AC seems to leak and the major problem. The roof won,t go down. It workt perfect when a bought the car and workt well until this wensday.. Now the tunk lid opens but then no more. I have checked the switch for "trunk lid open position" and that one works..

I have an idea that it could be the wires the the front roof locks.
I will do some seach on the forum befor I starts to ask to much questions..

By the way I am 45 and live in Stockholm in Sweden..

Regarding the cruise control , check that there isn't more than 3% difference between the front & rear tyre sizes :

Looks like you're on the right track with the roof issue , either front micro-switches or their wiring ...

I have maybe solved the roof problem. I used the manually function to release the roof. Removed the inside roof. The mechanism for the roof lock was completly dried out of grease. After greasing all the joints, the roof works as it should :grin::grin:

Now I will wait to tomorrow and recheck all the joints before I put the inner roof back..

Hello from Calgary, Canada. Glad you found a problem, and seem to have fixed it, with the roof. The Air Con most likely needs the help of a qualified service technician, who has the proper equipment to safely check if you have a leak, and where it might be. Plus once found and fixed, properly recharge the system with the right amount of the correct refrigerant gas. Beyond checking the tires,I have no further personal suggestions on the Cruise Control, other than find a good local shop to have a look, sorry.
