Welcome from Madrid ...

Try disconnecting the negative from the battery for half and hour or so , you'll be amazed what faults this can cure ....

Sirs/Ma'ams,
Thanks for all your welcoming replies and help with the boot issue.
Tonight i gained access to the boot/trunk by lowering the roof to the first stage, allowing me access into the boot/trunk, to see that the problem is the cable wire between the lock and the latch being fixed and not moving as the key is turned, therefore the problem being in the lock side and not the upper latch mechanism,,,,
Any solution would be greatly appreciated,,,thanks in advance Simon

I had a similar problem. The cable doesn't move when you turn the key. The key contacts a micro-switch, which unlocks the trunk. To me, it appears all electrical. Not sure if it will work if the battery is disconnected.
My problem was the electrical plug coming loose from the micro-switch. Probably due to my wife shutting the trunk lid too hard. (She doesn't do that now after I spent a lot of time tracking down the problem in hot and humid SC.)
